Section 7-37, Chapter 7, Seal Beach City Code sh1111 be amended to read- asulollOl'/S: "Every full time employee of the City, who shall have one year of conti nuous set'vi ce immedi ately precedi ng, shall be gi ven 11 vacati on of 120 hours per year with pay in addition to regular days and/or time off and holidays or time off l'lith pay in lieu of holidays. l\fter one year of continuous full time service, such a full time employee shall earn ten (10) hours of vacation Hith pay each month of full time employment, All full ti,r,e employees \'/ho shall have at least five (5) years of continuous service as a full time employee immediatp.ly precedin!]. shall be entitled to ten (10) additi ana 1 hours of vacati on for each year of full time continuous set'vice in excess of five (5) years to a maxir.llIm vacation of 160 hours per year, For the purpose of thi s secti on, one shi ft of twenty- four (21!-) hours fOl' fi re department personnel assi gned to fi re suppressi on duties, working a fifty-six (SG) hour IQeek, shall constitute the above equivalent of sixteen (16) hours, An employee of the City classified as a provisional employee, hourly employee, part time employee or seasonal employee shall not ue eli!Jible for paid vacation, . Accumulation of vacation time. The times during a calendar year at whlch--an'-empToyee may taki:!-'iis-vacation shall be determined by the department head \'lith clue regard for the I'/ishes of the employee and particular regard for the need of the servi ce. If the requi rements of the servi ce arc such that an employee must defer part or all of his annual vacation in a particular calendar year, the department head or appointing authority may permit the employee to take such deferred vacation during the follm'Jing calendar year. ,lIo employee may accumulate more than the nUi'1ber of days of vacation earned in the prior year, Any elif1ible employee, \'/ith the consent of the head of Iris department or appointinC] authority, may defer forty (I!-O) hours of his annual vacation to the succeeding calendar year, subject to the provisions of this subsection.
