HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Min 1977-08-03 MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF AUGUST 3, 1977 ~ The Planning Co~ission of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session on Wednesday, August 3, 1977, in the Council Chambers of the City Administration Building. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Knapp at 7:30 p,m. and the Pledge to the F1ag was led by Vice Chairman Cook. Present: Vacancy: Lanning, Knapp, Ripperdan, Cook One The minutes of July 20, 1977, were approved as presented, 1. Public Hearings A, Arthur & Elizabeth Kraft, V-13-77 . Applicant is reque~ting a variance to permit the conversion of a side entrY garage to living quarters with less than required setback to living Quarters. Secretar.y noted t,hat one additional variance: equest was not advertized regarding the proposed new garage with substandard interior dimensions which would have to be advertized prior to final action, if the Planning Commission chose to approve the variance. Public hearing opened. Arthur Kraft, 412 Emerald Pl., noted that the front wall of the side entry garage existed and no advantage to the community would be gained ~v the removal of the wall. The applicant stated that his property was located on the bulb end of a cul-de-sac street at its widest point, The subject of the proposed substandard new garage was discussed. The substandard dimensions would only occur at one corner and would have minimal effect upon the parRing of automobiles in the garage. Jim Hagadorn, 408 Emerald Pl., spoke in favor of the appltcation noting that the overall proposed development would be consi'stent with' surrounding develooment. Publ ic hearing closed. The Planning Commission discussed the proposal and the various options. By consensus, the matter was held over until August 17, 1977, and staff was directed to readvertize the additional variance, 2. Oral Communications There were no oral communications. 3, Written Communications , The only written communication was a petition submitted in favor of Variance V-l3_77. ' 4. New Business . A. Consi~eration of Resolution Honoring Pete Madsen knaPP moved to adopt. Resolution No. l072 honoring Pete Madsen for his service on the Planning Commission, seconded by Lanning, and unanimously adopted.
