SECTION 400 (11), SETBACK OJ' SWH2'IING POOLS AND
ACCESSORY POOL EQUlPl'lENT. '
WHERFAS, in the matter of sethacks of swimming pools and accessory pool equipment,
the Plann:l,nll Commission of t!,e City of Seal Beac.h Idoes report as follows:

1. The increasing number of s;:,all lots and hence, small rear yards in this City,
has made construction of swimming pools difficult (because of setbacks).'

2. Swimming pools and associatea pool equipment built in conformance with the
Un:lform Building Code requirements co not interfere with light, air or
ventilation.
3. Setbacks for swirr~ing pools and associated pool equipment can be lessened
to four (4) feet from side prope~.ty lines and ,tW<l and one-half (2~) feet from
rear property line without adverse affect upon neighboring property. Similarly,
accessory pool equipment may be setback one (1) foot from property line,
providing it is not less than ten (10) feet from residences on neighboring
parcels. ,

4. A proposed ordinance has been submitted for review and adoption entitled
"An ordinance of the City of Seal BeaCh,' California, amending Article 4,
Section 400 (11) of Ordinance Number 628 (Zoning) setback of swimming pools
and accessor)' pool equipment". A copy is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
\nlEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. It is desirable Ordinance 628 be amended to lessen swimming pool and a~sociated
pool equipment setbacks because the combination of setbacks in small yards
_ impose a hardship upon property owners.
2. The proposed ordinance attached as Exhibit "A" is reasonable and desirable.

Beach does herE-by recomm:md toO the City Council of the City of Seal Beach a",endment
of Ordlnnnce 6;(8 (Zoning) as indicated in the find,ings neove.
