The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ripperdan at 7:30 p.m., and the pledge to the flag was led by vi~innan Covington. ,Present: Absent: Knapp, Ripperdan" Cook1 Covington, Leibert None. "!he Minutes of the June 6, 1979, meeting were approved as presented. 1. Election of Chainnan and Vice Chainnan for 1979-1980 Chainnan Ripperdan was unanirrously re-elected to serve as Chainnan for 1979-1980. Vice-Chairnan Covington was unani'1l:>usly re-elected to serve as Vice-Chainnan for 1979-1980. 2. Public Hearings a. G:Jlden Rain Foundation (Presley of Southern California) Application is for sulxlivision of 5.51 acres for 126 =ndaniniurns ...lith variances for less than required parking and excess building height. "!he project is being processed through a plannerl unit developrent. The project was extensively discussed by the Ccmnission, the Applicant, and a number of project =nsultants. A number of significant =ncerns were raised regarding the requests for Variance, as well as the information =ntained in the environmental assessment and the noise and traffic studies. The Corrmi.ssion directed the Applicant to atterrpt to more fully carply with the City Cc:rles by lowering the building to 35'. The Canmission also asked for additional information on other proposed construction rrethods such as concrete vs. Io.DOd frame and other building configurations such as four two-story buildings. "!he matter was =ntinued to July 18, 1979, to give the Applicant the opportunity to address theu=ncerns raised environmentally and with the alternative design =ncepts. New Business None. 1 " {e 6. Report from Secretary a. Draft Revised Housing Elerrent The Revised Housing Element was distributed for Carrnission discussion and ccmrent. The Ccmnission will review the draft and provide ccmrents to Staff for incorporation into the Element. Ccmnissioner Knapp announced that he would be absent fran the July 5, 18, and 'August 1, 1979,P1anning Canmission meetings.' " The Secretary announced that there would be no meeting on July 5, 1979 l due to insufficient business1 the holidaYl and the resulting conflicting EQCB Commission ~eting of July 5, 1979.
