MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF MARCH 5, 1980

THE PLANNING COMMISSION MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON WEDNESDAY.
MARCH 5, 1980. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY ADMINISTP~TION
BUILDING, 211 EIGHTH STREET, SEAL BEACH. VICE-CHAIRMAN COVINGTON
CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:30 P.M. AND LED IN THE PLEDGE TO THE
FLAG. '

Secretary inforned the Co;;rnission that they will begin processing Zoning EnTorcerr:ent
through the Assistant District Attorneys office. Knapp questioned the enforce~ent
process. Secretary stated that t~IO (2) letters will go out before a Notice to
ApPZilr is issued. The first letter'will give owners 30 days to ccreply; secol"d
letter will be through the Police Department. If no compliance at that time,
the District Attorneys Office ~Ii 11 process as a mi.sdemeanor. '
Covington asked about the status of the Hellman Property. Secretary stated
the Hellman 'representatives and POl"derosa were meeting this ,date. no ,'lOrd as
to the outcome of that meeting at this time.
Knapp expressed concern about the rezoning of Ocean Avenue. Secretary statej
it will go before Council on March 10.
Knapp asked for an update on the Leisure World condominium project.
Covington asked about the status of the Bixby 18 acre site. Secretary statei
they are' redesigning structures for protective barriers for RossmGor hcmwowners.
Secretary infomed the Ca7.T.ission that few people were opposed and that alt€r~atives
were suggested such as a Bridal tra;l and a Park & Ride.

Knapp expressed concern on the EIR fo)' the m!? site. Secretary stated that ~hen
Plan A becomes effective the EIR ~;ill come before the Ccmo.1issicr. as a finai
r~pcrt along with a Staff Report. Secretary also infol~ed the CO~iS5ion th~t
the Los Angeles City Co~ncil rr.ust approve the sale of the lalld before an agreemer:t
could be solidified.
