HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 2681 1977-07-25 I I I, " i RESOLUTION NO. .;(t.3"/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT FUNDS IN THE 1977-78 BUDGET FOR PURCHASE OF BADLY NEEDED ROLLING EQUIPMENT AT SOLID WASTE - ~H- TRANSFER STATIONS AND COUNTY LAND-FILLS. Disposing of solid waste and trash is a most basic concept in ,preservation of health standards; and Delays in handling of solid waste from citizens and commerical establishments through transfer stations and on to land-fills, has become a matter of grave concern to our taxpayers and to city officials; and City Council and Engineering personnel of the City of Seal Beach found it advisable to visit and study transfer station delays; and It was our determination that these delays caused unnecessary waste of energy, manpower, truck capacity, and causes unnecessarily high costs of handling, unnecessarily high trash contracts, and therefore unnecessary increases in taxes; and The overriding reason for these delays was the shortage of handling equipment to move the waste from transfer stations into the land- fi 11 areas; and WHEREAS, This problem can be resolved with additional equipment and manpower to operate it; WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach sincerely urges the County Board of Supervisors to provide the immediate necessary funds for additional equipment and personnel to resolve this serious problem.
