WHEREAS. Mr. Marx N. Dressler, District Superintendent of the Seal Beach School
District, has announced his retirement from the School District
effective January 1, 1978; and
\VHEREAS, Mr. Dressler has served 31 years with the Seal Beach School District,
22 of those years as Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, Seal Beach has been fortunate to benefit from the dynamic leadership
Mr. Dressler has provided the School District; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dressler's service to the District has included his enthusiastic
support of the many programs which have contributed tOl'iard enhancing
the education of Seal Beach youth; and
WHEREAS. during Mr. Dressler's distinguished career, various improvements, such
as the construction of additional buildings at Mary E. Zoeter School
and the addition of the C. W. Shepard Library and Media Center at
J. H. McGaugh Intennediate School, became reality; and
WHEREAS, among the many accomplishments of the District while Mr. Dressler was
Superintendent is the construction of the olympic-sized swimming pool
at McGaugh School, which was a joing project between the School District
and the City of Seal Beach; and
WHEREAS, throughout his service to Seal Beach, Mr. Dressler strongly endorsed
the expansion of the successful music program offered by the School
District with the development of the Seal Beach Orchestra, Jazz Band,
MaTching Band and Drill Team; and
\VHEREAS, because of Mr. Dressler's exceptional dedication and expert planning
abilities, the Seal Beach School District enjoys the valuable
opportunities available through various state and federal educational
programs such as the Early Childhood Education Program and the Federal
Ti tIe I Program; and
\VHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach desires to honor and express
appreciation to Mr. Marx N. Dressler for the numerous and significant
contributions he made during his many years of dedicated service as
District Superintendent.
NOW. THEREFORE, I. THCMAS E. BLACKMAN, MAYOR of the City of Seal Beach, California,
do hereby honor and commend the distinguished service to this cormmmity of
MARX N. DRESSLER
upon his retirement as Superintendent of the Seal Beach School District.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach.
California, at a meeting thereof held on the fourteenth day of November, Nineteen
