RESOLUTION NUMBER ~~S7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH TERMINATING ITS, POLICY WITH
STATE COMPENSATION INSURANCE FUND, AND
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH
FRED S. JAMES COMPANY FOR CERTAIN SERVICES IN
CONNECTION WITH THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
OF CITY AS A SELF-INSURER UNDER THE PROVISIONS
OF THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION LAWS OF THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA AS A RESULT OF INJURIES TO ITS
EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS,
the City desires to undertake to self-insure its liability
to its employees pursuant to the Worker's Compensation Laws
of the State of California; and
pursuant to this intention, it is necessary to terminate
the current policy with the State CompensatiOn Insurance
Fund; and
City desires to employ a service agent to perform certain
services in connection with the duties and responsibilities
of the City as a self-insurer;
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach that:

1. The City Manager is hereby directed to take the necessary steps to
terminate the City's policy with State Compensation Insurance Fund,
effective June 30, 1976.
2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute an
agreement, at a fee of $5,000.00 per year, no more than $250.00
per diem not to exceed ten days, with Fred S. James Company, said
agreement to be effective June 30, 1976, and to be renewable each
year thereafter.
3. The City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare an ordinance for
City Council consideration, establishing a "Self-Insurer's Loss
Reserve Fund," said fund to provide resources to pay all costs
relating to Worker's Compensation claims as required by State Law.
