AN ORDINANCE ORDERING, PROCLAIMING, CALLING,
GIVING NOTICE OF AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLD-
ING OF A PRIMARY NOMINATING ELECTION IN THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH ON TUESDAY THE 28th DAY OF
APRIL, 1964, FOR THE NOMINATION AND/OR ELECTION
OF CANDIDATES FOR TWO (2) OFFICES OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, FOR THE NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES AND/OR
THE ELECTION OF THE CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER
OF SAID CITY OF SEAL BEACH, EACH FOR A FULL TERM
OF FOUR (4) YEARS, ESTABLISHING CONSOLIDATED
PRECINCTS FOR SAID ELECTION AND DESIGNATING THE
POLLING PLACES IN AND APPOINTING A BOARD OF
ELECTION FOR EACH OF SAID PRECINCTS AND FIXING
THE COMPENSATION OF SAID ELECTION OFFICERS.
The City Council of the City of Seal Beach ordains as
follows:
Section 1. Pursuant to the provisions of the laws of
the State of California and pursuant to the provisions of the Charter
of the City of Seal Beach governing the holding of Primary Nominating
Elections in said City, a Primary Nominating Election is hereby
ordered, proclaimed and called to be held in the City of Seal Beach,
County of Orange, State of California between the hours of 7:00
o'clock A.M. and 7:00 o'clock P.M. on the 4th Tuesday in April, 1964,
viz., April 28th 1964, for the purposes of nominating candidates for
and/or electing two (2) offices on the City Council, namely, for the
Second and Fourth Districts, respectively, in said City, and for the
purposes of nominating candidates for and/or electing the City Clerk
and the City Treasurer of said City of Seal Beach, each for a rull
term of four (4) years commencing with midnight the 30th day of June,
1964; and notice is hereby given of the holding of said election and
of the time and place of holding the same.
Section 2. That the ballots to be used at said election
shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may
be required by law to be used thereat.
Section 3. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby
authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and
all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies,
equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to
properly and lawfully conduct said election.

Section 4. That for the purpose of holding said regular
general municipal election, there shall be and are hereby established
Twenty One (21) voting precincts consisting of consolidations of the
regular election precirnc~s in the City of Seal Beach, California,
established for the holding of state and county elections, as said
regular election precincts exist on the date of adoption of this
resolution. That the polling places for the respective precincts shall
be the places hereinafter designated; and that the persons hereinafter
named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City
and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed officers
of election for their respective voting precincts and they shall hold
said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law.

Section 5.
That the compensation of the persons hereinabove
named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty One
Dollars for each Inspector. and Eighteen Dollars for each Judge and Clerk,
for said election. The rental for each of such polling places, where a
charge is made. shall be the sum of Ten Dollars for said election. When
required. the compensation of the Custodian of a building shall be
Five Dollars for said election.
Section 6. That the polls for said election shall be open
at seven o'clock A.M. of the day of said election. and shall remain open
continuously from said time until seven o'clock P.M. of the same day.
when said polls shall be closed. except as provided in Section 14436 of
the Elections Code of the State of California.
Section 7. In all particulars not herein set forth. said
Primary Nominating Election shall be held in accordance with the pro-
visions of law governing the holding of Primary Nominating Elections in
the City of Seal Beach.

Section 8. The City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach shall

and proclamation by the City Counci~ of the City of Seal Beach, and
shall cause the same to be posted in three (3) conspicuous places in
the City of Seal Beach. Said City Clerk shall also cause this ordinance,
order, notice and proclamation to be published three (3) times in the

Marina News, the official newspaper of the City of Seal Beach and a
newspaper of general circulation and published in the said City.
The City Clerk shall give such further or additional notice of said
election in time, form and manner as required by law.
Section 9. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon adoption.
