RESOLUTION NO ../4.fL
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH
SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-IRVINE.
WHEREAS, President Clark Kerr, University of California, recently
presented to the Orange County Board of Supervisors the possibility
of relocating the University of California, California College of
Medicine, in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the transferring of the now existing California College
of Medicine at Los Angeles to an Orange County site is a realistic
possibility; and
WHEREAS, the clinical portion of the proposed UCI Medical
School could conceivably be located at the Orange County Medical
Center (formerly known as the Orange County General Hospital); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach realizes
that such an establishment would greatly benefit the entire County
and would provide impetus to medical studies and other health
sciences, along with encouraging the academic and cultural aspects
of Orange County;
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH does hereby unanimously endorse and support the
proposal to establish the California College of Medicine at the
University of California - Irvine Campus. Orange County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed
to forward copies of this Resolution to other Orange County Cities
urging their support of this progressive move.
PASSED, APPROVED. AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on December 19. 1966. by
the following vote:
