HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 1524 1967-02-27 I I I '. . RESOLUTION NO. IS- .:z ~ . A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 433. THE . CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach has a vital interest in the recreational potential of the mile of beach within its city limits; and WHEREAS, Statistics show a total of more than 657,000 indivi- duals visited our beaches during the past year; and WHEREAS, at the present time one per cent (1%) of the State's profits from tidelands revenue is returned for public beach main- tenance to those cities who do not own their tidelands; and WHEREAS, the increasing population of the area and the greater beach attendance places an added burden for maintenance and upkeep upon the taxpayers of the City of Seal Beach; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 433 has been introduced at the 1967 Regular Session of the California Legislature by Assemblymen Burke, Badham, Cory, Briggs, MacDonald, and Shoemaker; and WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 433 would increase to two per cent (2%) revenues apportioned to cities from such revenue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH endorses the proposed legislation and urges support of Assembly Bill 433 by State, County, and City officials.
