RESOLUTION NUMBER 1605
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF 'rHE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A VARIANCE TO
MYRON L. BAKER.
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission, by Resolution Number 149, denied
the request of Myron L. Baker, 1235 Catalina Avenue,
Seal Beach, California, for a variance to construct living
quarters over an existing garage on the property located
at 1235 Catalina Avenue; and
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
Myron L. Baker appealed the decision of the Planning
Commission to the City Council; and
The City Council, on October 2, 1967, held a public hearing
on said appeal; and
The Planning Commission, on October 4, 1967, re-considered
the application of Myron L. Baker for a variance and
referred the matter back to the City Council; and
The City Council finds as follows:
1. The property located at 1235 Catalina Avenue is
located on a street which is going uphill and turns
at a right angle;
2. This street has five streets dead-ending on it,
and consequently ten side-facing houses which come
within six feet-of the front property line;
3. This unique situation does not exist anywhere else
in the general area;
4. The City Council believes that granting this variance
will not work any hardship on the adjacent property
owners, but, in the opinion of the Council, will improve
the general area and improve property values;
5. That the conditions specified by city ordinance for
the granting of a variance have been fulfilled.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, that the request of Myron L. Baker is just and
said variance is hereby granted.
