I RESOLUTION NO. 1612 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, FAVORING THE ''MURPHY AMENDMENT" TO THE AIR QUALITY ACT OF 1967 (S.780). WHEREAS, S.780, the Air Quality Act of 1967, by virtue of the ''Murphy Amendment" was revised in the United States Senate to permit California to establish standards for automotive emissions that are commensurate with atmospheric conditions in this State: and WHEREAS, S.780 should establish minimum requirements for all motor vehicles throughout the nation, but should leave to each state the power to establish more restrictive standards based upon air pollution con- ditions within its boundaries; I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, that it favors restoring the "Murphy Amendment" as a means of avoiding the alarming threat to the health and well-being of the citizens of the City of Seal Beach and more than nineteen million other California residents. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on November 6, 1967, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Gummere, Hamilton, Dreis, Anderson NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Gemmill ATTEST: I
