A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, A CHARTER CITY, SUPPORT-
ING THE FORMULA RECOMMENDED BY THE LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES I REVENUE AND TAXATION COMMITTEE
ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF CITIES' SHARE OF THE
CIGARETTE TAX.
WHEREAS, The distribution of a portion of the state cigarette tax
to cities and counties is determined by the taxable sales
formula based on the Bradley-Burns Local Sales and Use
Tax Act; and
WHEREAS, Such distribution and allocation of funds produces dis-
parities of funds between cities ranging from $2,600 per
capita to a low of no revenue; and
WHEREAS, The present allocation of funds has resulted in a
dissatisfaction on the part of many cities and has not
distributed funds in an equitable manner which would
enable cities to meet their financial needs in p'royiding
services to the citizens of their respective communities
and the State:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIF.,
A CHARTER CITY, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section l: To support the formula for distribution of the three-
cent per package cigarette allocation of the state tax to cities
and counties as proposed by the League of California Cities'
Committee on Revenue and Taxation whereby said city funds would be
allocated on the basis of one-half population and one-half taxable
sales,
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on the 5th day of February,
1968, by the following vote:
