Acceptance of the Navy Booster Station Upgrades Project No. 50156 be withdrawn from consideration at tonight's City Council meeting. Vukojevic, Director of Public Works/City Engineer ACCEPTANCE OF THE NAVY BOOSTER STATION UPGRADES PROJECT No. 50156 SUMMARY OF REOUEST: The proposed City Council action will adopt Resolution Number and formally accept the completion of the construction for the Navy Booster Station Upgrades Project No. 50156. BACKGROUND: The completed project, Navy Booster Station Upgrades Project No. 50156 made various repairs, improvements, and upgrades to critical components of the City's water service system, specifica11y the Navy Booster Station and Water Reservoir. The Navy Booster Station Upgrades Project No. 50156 is a combination of the following projects: Navy Reservoir Repairs Project No. 50154, Water System Telemetry/SCADA Project No. 50155, Navy Booster Pump Station Upgrades Project No. 50156, and the Navy Reservoir COlTOsion Protection Project No. 50167. e The Navy Reservoir Project retrofitted and upgraded the existing above ground steel structure and inlet and outlet lines to the reservoir, which was built in 1963. The Water System Telemetry/SCADA Project upgraded the existing telemetry system to current standards by replacing the current reporting equipment with a new computer based system. The Navy Booster Pump Station Project replaced and upgraded several components of the station to bring the facility, to current standards including the building, pumps and controls, and cathodic protection for the steel reservoir. A detailed description of the projects is available in the Council approved 2003 Water Master Plan.. The City also added several items to the project including cathodic protection upgrades, re-piping of the chlorine building, electrical work, a new prefabricated building, asphalt paving, and painting and roofing of the old reservoir. On November 14,2005, City Council awarded a project to Cora Constructors, Inc. In accordance with the plans and specifications, the contractor has satisfactorily completed the 8forementioned project for a final construction contract amount of $1,950,751.16. e Agenda ltem~ e FISCAL IMPACT: City Council budgeted $2,050,000 for the design, construction, and inspection for the Navy Booster Station Ugrades Project No. 50156. Funding came from the Water Capital fund within the City's approved 5-year Capital Improvement Program budget to construct these improvements and had no impact to the General Fund. The net cost of the project including design, construction, and construction management is $I,977,2?7.26. The entire project was completed $72,772.74 under budget and the remaining funds shall be reallocated back to the Water Capital Enterprise Fund. RECOMMENDATION: Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council: I. By resolution, determine the work has been completed in accordance with the contract documents and declare the work to be accepted and the total amount of the contract is in the sum of$I,950,751.l6. 2. Direct the City Clerk, within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance, file a ''Notice of Completion" with the Orange County Recorder. e 3.
