HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 2425 1975-04-14 I I I "' .- RESOLUTION NO. ,;J<t?r A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING THE 1995 FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION STUDY. WHEREAS, in 1970, the 1968 National Highway Functional Classification Study was updated to 1970, and expanded to define a projected 1990 National Highway Functional Classification System; and WHEREAS, in 1973, the California Department of Public Works initiated an update and further projection of that Study from 1990 to 1995 as a first step in complying with Chapter 1253, Statutes of 1972 (AB 69) for the development of the highway element of the Calfiornia Transportation Plan; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Engineering Board (MTEB), Vice Chairman coordinated the 1995 Functional Classification Study within their respective jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Engineering Board is the SCAG Committee authorized to approve the 1995 Functional Classification Study for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG); and WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of Governments is expected to pass a resolution supporting the 1995 Functional Classification Study developed by the MTEB members and approved by the cities and counties; and WHEREAS, the 1995 Functional Classification Study would provide the Federal Department of Transportation with facts required to make recommendations to Congress on specific changes considered desirable with respect to the character and size of Federal-aid systems and programs; and WHEREAS, the 1995 Functional Classification Study would also provide the California Legislature with the facts required to form an objective approach to determination of criteria for future highway, road and street systems and programs; and WHEREAS, City Council approval of the 1995 Functional Classification Study will not preclude future adjustments of street classifications due to changing population, travel and land u~e; and WHEREAS, the Functional Classification Study Map is consistent with the Select Street System and with the 1995 Functional Classification Systems of contiguous jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, this 1995 Functional Classification Study for the City of Seal Beach has been completed and found to be satisfactory to the California Department of Transportation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEO, that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach approves the 1995 Functional Classification Study.
