A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE
HUNTINGTON BEACH UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOND ISSUE.
WHEREAS,
every high school within the Huntington Beach Union High
School District is facing a severe shortage of classroom
space at the present time. and
the district enrollment is expected to continue its
upward growth pattern, reaching a projected enrollment
of over 20,000 by 1975, and
~JHEREAS,
WHEREAS.
the district has exhausted its bond funds, and trustees
have called a bond election for February 27, 1973.
bringing to the voters a twenty-seven million dollar
bond issue, and
I~HEREAS .
passage of that issue at the polls will allm~ the district
to construct two critically needed new high schools in the
district, alleviating crowding at all district high schools,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach recognizes that
even the finest educational program suffers when presented
under over-crm1ded conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach hereby goes on record in support of the bond issue, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach
realizes that the passage of this bond issue is crucial to the
continuation of the district's successful educational program for
today's high school students and, further, that passage of this bond
issue will assure adequate secondary school facilities for the
children presently enrolled as pupils in the Seal Beach School District.
