A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING HOUSE RESOLUTION
80 OFFERED BY ASSEMBLY~~ ROBERT H. BURKE RELATIVE
TO THE DEFICIT ABSORBED BY LOCAL GOVERNMENTS BETWEEN
COSTS TO OPERATE PUBLIC BEACH FACILITIES AND REVENUES
DERIVED THEREFROM.
WHEREAS,
Assemblyman Robert H. Burke, representing Assembly District 70,
has introduced House Resolution 80 to the California State
Assembly; and
House Resolution 80 requests the Assembly Committee on Rules
to assign an appropriate committee to study and report on the
subject of the added costs to local government of providing
beach-related recreational services to non-residents, the extent
of local revenues derived from these sources, and the means
available for minimizing the difference; and
the Seal Beach City Council has joined with the cities of
Huntington Beach and Newport Beach in adopting Resolution 2213
which urges the State Legislature to enact legislation that
will equalize the tax burden within the coastal zone for beach
and recreational services which are borne solely by local tax-
payers;
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach supports House
Resolution Number 80 and Assemblyman Burke's efforts to arrive at an equitable
solution to the financial deficits now absorbed by the local taxpayers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to Assemblyman
Burke, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and those coastal cities in
Orange County, and the League of California Cities.
