HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 2296 1974-03-11 I -I I .. ..... . . " RESOLUTION NUMBER d ~ q f:, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 2942. WHEREAS, AB 2942 would reduce the city and county share of motor vehicle license fee revenue (in lieu tax) by 5%; and WHEREAS, the funds from the 5% reduction amounting to approximately $15 Million, would be transferred to a special account in the General Fund of the State to pay the claims of certain mountain counties for'damages and costs estimated by the board of supervisors of each such mountain county to be caused by the activities of tourists in such county; and WHEREAS, while the City of Seal 8each empathizes with mountain city and county jurisdictions, until an equitable plan is devised to allow for similar reimbursements to beach city and county juris- dictions for the same damages and costs caused by tourists to their facilities, the City of Seal Beach cannot support AB 2942; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California hereby opposes Assembly Bill 2942. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach respectfully requests the State Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation to study the problems of all city and county jurisdictions who experience damages and increased costs from the influx of tourists.
