': , RESOLUTION NUMBER o?cIl.() l- I A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL 8EACH, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING PROPOSITION ONE, THE $250 MILLION PARKS AND RECREATION 80ND ISSUE ON THE JUNE 4TH STATEWIDE BALLOT. nearly 1,000,000 people had to be turned away from parks and beaches in California last year, because of overwhelming demands being made on outdoor recreation; and WHEREAS, almost 90% of the visitors to California's parks and beaches are residents of this State; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS, Proposition 1 on the June 4th statewide ballot will prOVide $250 Million for new facilities and the development of existing reSQurces, for histQrical features of the State Park System and for fish and wildlife conservatiQn; and WHEREAS, $90 MilliQn Qf this will be granted directly tQ all CalifQrnia counties fQr the use Qf lQcal gQvernment, which throughQut the State is in dire need of park funds, while the demand fQr local parks has increased in urgency because Qf the energy crisiS; and WHEREAS, if Proposition 1 is approved by the voters, the City Qf Seal Beach would receive over $69,000 fQr beach development; and WHEREAS, these local parks will be created and developed at no CQst to the property taxpayer; and WHEREAS, ProPQsition 1 is a bond issue that will be repaid by more than Qne generation Qf park users; and WHEREAS, the need fQr immediate action is accentuated by threatened lQSS of PQtential parkland tQ development and the increasing CQst of land; NOW, THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, hereby endorses ProPQsition 1, fQr the preservation of our State's natural environment in the face Qf the current park crisis, and calls on all Californians tQ cast a resounding YES vote fQr PrQPosition 1 on June 4, 1974.
