RESOLUTION NUMBER~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE INTENT AND CONCEPT OF THE 911 EMERGENCY DIALING SYSTEM AND URGING SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION WHICH WOULD MANDATE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SUCH A SYSTEM IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, WHEREAS, the concept of the use of the telephone number 911 as the universal emergency number as established by the Bell Telephone System in 1969 is a valid and useful system;'arid WHEREAS, legislation has been proposed in the form of AB 515, adopted by the Assembly and is currently under Senate consideration which would require all public agencies providing emergency services to have a 911 emergency system in operation by December 31, 1982; and WHEREAS, the Pacific and General Telephone Companies have conducted a joint study regarding the feasibility of a 911 system in Orange County and have found such a system to be feasible, in some form, by 1980; and WHEREAS, the 911 emergency dialing system has been used with success in other areas; NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, is in agreement with the intent and concept of the 911 emergency dialing system and urges support of the system by the cities in Orange County; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach urges support of AB 515 which would mandate the establishment of a 911 emergency system throughout the State of California; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to all of the cities in Orange County and our representatives at the State and Federal levels, PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the ~Ci f Seal Beach, California, at a meeting thereof held on the /t' day of ~ ' 1972, by the followingJ9fe: .. j ('~.. .'/' ./ AYES: Councl1mellibA_......... ~,./t-'" ::;rz./AI?~ ,~"'~~ NOES: Councilmen ~~..
