A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACTS OF TilE PRIMARY NOMINATING
ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 31ST DAY OF MARCH, 1970,
DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF. AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS
ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS. a regular nominating primary municipal election was held
and conducted in the City of Seal Beach. County of Orange,
State of California. on Tuesday, the 31st of March, 1970, as
required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly Riven in
time, form, and manner as provided by law; that voting
precincts were properly established; that election officers
were appointed, and that in all respects said election was
held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received,
and canvassed, and the returns made and declared in time,
form, and manner as requieed.! by the provisions of the
Elections Code of the State of California for the holding
of elections in general law and charter cities; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution Number 1836, adopted the 16th day
of March, 1970. the City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach
canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the
results to this City Council, said results are received,
attached, and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Sectionll. That there were sl*teen (16) voting precincts established
for the purpose of hOlding said election consisting of
consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of
Seal Beach, California as established for the holding of State
and County elections.
Section 2. That said regular primary nominating election was held for
fh~ purpose of nominating the follOWing officers of said City as
required by the Charter of the City of Seal Beach and general
laws of the State of California, to wit:
One Member of the City Council of said City for the full term
of four years. District One;
One Member of the City Council of said City for the full term
of four years, District Three; and
I
One Member of the City Council of said City for the full term
of four years, District Five.
Section 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City,
including absent ballot votes was 2.412.

Section 4. That the names of the persons voted for at said election
for a member of the City Council in District One are as follows:

Carl A. Mons
R. L. Rene Turner
That the names of the persons voted for at said election for a
member of the City Council in District Three are as follows:
John B. Hamilton
Morton A. Baum
Charlotte Crowley
James Hartwell, Jr,
Charles (Mike) Knapp
Marilyn Millstein
Gary STangeland
That the names of tile persons voted for at said election for
a member of the City Council in District Five are as follOws:

That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number
of votes given in the City to each of such perAons above names
for the respective offices for which said persons were candidates

Section 5. The City Council does declare and determine that:TTHOMAS
R. HOGARD was elected as a Member of the City Council of the
City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years; District One;
JOHN B. l~ILTON was nominated as a Member of the City Council of
the City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years, District
Three;

MORTON A BAUM was nominated as a Member of the City Council of
the City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years, District
Three;
HAROLD K. HOLDEN was elected as a Member of the City Council of
the City of Seal Beach for the full term of four years, District
Five.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City
Council of the City of Seal Beach, a statement of the result
of said election showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in the City;
(2) The names of the persons voted for;
(3) Fbr what office each person was voted for;
(4) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person;
(5) The number of votes given in the City to each peraon.
Section 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book
of orisinal resolutions of said Cityl and shall make a minute
of the passage and adoption thereon in the recores of the
proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes
of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.

PASSED. APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the City Council
held on the 7th day of April, 1970.
