I I .. Resolution Number -, ;. " September 8, 1970 MEMORANDUM AGENDA ITEM VII C TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Dennis Courtemarche, Acting City Manager SUBJECT: Establishment of Planning Assistant Salary Range With the recent resignation of the City Engineer-Director of Public Works and Planning (one employee), a serious gap has been left in the area of Planning for the City of Seal Beach. The Planning Department now consists of one professional staff assistant and a secretary who also assists in the Public Works and Engineering Departments. A "roving" staff assistant also devotes a certain portion of his time to the planning functions of the city although he has been recently assigned to the City Manager's office. With the added responsibilities of serving as Secretary to the Planning Commission and also supervising the activities of the planning staff, it is requested that the City Council give favorable consideration to the attached resolution establishing a salary range for the position of Planning Assistant. This resolution, in effect, amends Resolution Number 1862 which has established salary rates for city employees. The recommended salary range is schedule number 85, $854 - $1,038. The recommendation is based upon a survey of eleven Orange County cities with similarly related classi- fications which indicates an average salary of $844 - $1,036. In addition, it is also requested that the City Manager be authorized to replace the vacancy of Administrative Assistant (Planning) created by the promotion of the incumbent. ~(~U-~ f rl-;iaLc4 Dennis Courtemarche --- DC:mjj ..
