RESOLUTION NUMBER 1912
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH ESTABLISHING A GENERAL PLAN REVIEW
COMMITTEE DESCRIBING ITS MEMBERSHIP COMPOSITION,
DUTIES, AND FUNCTIONS.
WHEREAS, a comprehensive General Plan has been described as "an official
public document adopted by a local government as a policy guide to decisions
about the physical development of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach officially adopted such
a Plan in August 1966 prepared with the advice and consent and using goals
formulated by the Seal Beach Citizens Advisory Committee on the General Plan; and
WHERAS, the General Plan of the City of Seal Beach contains a provision
recommending "annual or biannual" review "to see if it represents the best
thinking in light of current conditions;" and
WlmREAS, said Plan has not been reviewed or revised since adoption and
therefore should be reviewed and if necessary revised and amended in order
to reflect current thinking regarding future developmental growth;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach resolves as follows:
Section 1. That a General Plan Review Committee is hereby established and
shall serve such purpose as herein described for a period not to exceed one year.
Section 2. That said Committee shall be composed of twenty-one (21) residents
of the City of Seal Beach selected as follows:
a) Four residents of each councilmanic district selected by the
councilman representing that district.
b) One member selected at large and appointed by the Mayor.
Section 3. That said Committee shall review the Seal Beach 1985 General Plan
and particularly the Goals therein in light of cu~t information regarding
ecology, improved transportation systems, and trends in social and economic
relationships. In addition, said Committee shall:
a) Note those areas in the Plan which seem out of phase with current
thinking and present community value patterns.
b) Make recommendations regarding those areas noted above (a) which
will bring the Plan into line with current thinking and value patterns.
c) Evaluate the Goals prescribed at an early date in the same manner
as described above (a and b).
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of
California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the
1970, by the following vote:
