A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND RESOLUTION NUMBER
l862 BY THE ADDITION OF THE POSITION OF
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER, AND ESTABLISHING A
SALARY RANGE FOR SUCH POSITION.
The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, california, does hereby
resolve as follows:
Section l. The position classification plan of the City of
Seal Beach is hereby amended by the addition of the position of
Assistant City Manaqer.
Section 2. Resolution Number l862, Appendix B, XII., Department
and Division Heads and Administrative Series (Management) is
hereby amended by the addition of the position, Assistant City
Manaqer.
Section 3. The compensation for the position of Assistant City
Manaqer shall be Salary Range lOa, as set forth in Resolution
Number l862, Appendix A. A Step, $l,026, EStep, $l,247.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the ~ity of

ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
(Unclassified exempt)--
Under administrative direction, assists the City Manager in
directing and coordinating the activities of city departments;
does related work as required.
Typical Tasks
Is directly responsible to the City Manager and assists him in
enforc~ng and administering city ordinances; planning, coordinating,
and directing the work of city departments; reviewing the operations
of the city departments and establishing work standards and methods
of improvement; preparing for the development of an annual budget;
conducting continuing research in administrative practices;
representing the City Manager in assigned areas and certain other
administrative matters as may be required, including supervision
of administrative and/or departmental functions as assigned in the
City Manager's department.

Emplo~nt Standards
Educat on equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or
university and five years of increasingly responsible work in a
staff or managerial position, with not less than three years in
municipal government.
Knowledge of: The principles and practices of public administration,
budgeting principles and practices; principles, philosophy, and
common practices of public personnel administration; methods of
analyzing, evaluating, and modifying administrative procedures;
principles of organization and management.
