HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 1965 1971-03-15 III"'" J , I , . - ~"" RESOLUTION NUMBER Iq kff- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, HONORING JN~ES BENTSON FOR SERVICES RENDERED AS INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY. WHEREAS, James Bentson was appointed as Interim City Attorney at a meeting of the Seal Beach City Council held on July 27, 1970; and WHEREAS, he offered his resignation as City Attorney on March 1, 1971 contingent upon appointment of a successor; and WHEREAS, he successfully defended the City against law suits brought by Modular Technology, Inc. and a taxpayers suit during the Marina Palace hearings; and WHEREAS, he was instrumental in negotiating purchase of a portion of the Pacific Electric Right-of-Way and securing a lease for Gum Grove Park; and WHEREAS, he authored several ordinances aimed at controlling and protecting the environment in Seal Beach; and WHEREAS, he provided the City Council and City staff with timely and professional 1e~a1 assistance whenever called upon; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, hereby honors JAMES BENTSON for his tireless and efficient efforts as Interim City Attorney. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, at a meeting thereof held on the 15th day of March, 1971, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Baum, Fuhrman, Hogard NOES: Councilmen ABSENT: Councilmen VACANCY: Councilmen Holden None One .'
