THE COMPENSA'fION OF CITY COUNCILMEN TO THAi: SUM
OF $100.00 PER MONTH.
The people of the CUy of Seal Beach, California, do ordain as
follows:
SJi:CnON 1: Each councilman of the City of Seal Beach shall receive
as compenlation the lum of $100.00 per month, such compensatton beginning
at the beginniDl of the term of office of colll1cUmen taking offlce subsequent to
the canvass of the returns of the general munictpal election held April 12,
1980, and from that ttme the amouat fixed by this Ordtaance ls a charge
agaillSt the City and payable as other IlBlartes.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall be cOll8tdered as adopted upon the
date that the vote of the general municipal election of April 12, 1960 is
declared by the canvalltng board, and shall go into effect ten (10) days
thereafter.

ORDINANCE NO. 553
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH INCREASING
THE COMPENSATION OF CITY COUNCILMEN TO THE SUM
OF $100.00 PER MONTH.
The people of the City of Seal Beach, California, do ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: Each councUman of the City of Seal Beach shall receive
as compensation the sum of $100.00 per month, such compensation beginning
at the beginning of the term of office of councUmen taking office subsequent to
the canvass of the returns of the general municipal election held AprU 12,
1960, and from that time the amount fixed by this Ordinance is a charge
against the City and payable as other salaries.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall be considered as adopted upon the
date that the vote of the general municipal election of AprU12, 1960 is
deciared by the canvassing board, and shall go lnto effect ten (10) days
thereafter.

RESOLUTION NO. 1046
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE
HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 12TH DAY OF
APRIL, 1960, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS
OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE
LA WS OF THE STA TE OF CALIFORNIA RELA TING TO
GENERAL LAW CITIES AND FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF CERTAIN
QUESTIONS, PROPOSITIONS OR MEASURES RELA TING TO
ELIMINA TION OF THE POSITION OF CHIEF OF POLICE
FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE SYSTEM. AND INCREASING
THE COMPENSATION OF CITY COUNCILMEN TO $100.00
PER MONTH.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law
cities in the State of California, a regular general municipal election shall be
held on the 12th day of April, 1960, for the election of two (2) members of the
City Council of said City for the full term of four (4) years; a City Clerk of
said City for the full term of four (4) years; and a City Treasurer of said
City for the full term of four (4) years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City also desires to submit to
the qualified electors of said City at sald election questions, propositions or
measures relating to elitri.nation of the position of Chief of Police from the
Civil Service system, and increasing the compensation of City Councilmen to
$100.00 per month, as hereinafter set forth;
NOW, THEREFORE.. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL
BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE. DECLARE., DETERMINE AND ORDER
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of tha
State of CaLifornla relating to general law cities within said state, there shalt
be, and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Seal Beach,
County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday, the 12th day of April,
1960, a regular general municipal election of the qualified electors of said
City for the purpose of electing two (2) members of the City Council of said
City for the fuLL term of four (4) years; a City Clerk of said Clty for the fuLL
term of four (4) years; and a City Treasurer of said City for the full term of
four (4) years.

SECTION 2: That said City Council pursuant to its right and
authority so to do, does hereby determine that there shall be and there is
hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular
general municipal election the following questions, to-wit:

A cross (x) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the
manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the
question or proposition. A cross (x) placed in the voting square after the
word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the
adoption of the question or proposition; that a copy of each such question is
attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
SECTION 3: That the ballots to be used at said election shall be,
both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law
to be used thereat.
SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized,
instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots,
notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may
be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election.
SECTION 5: That the compensation of persons acting as election
officers is hereby fixed at the sum of $15.00 for each inspector, judge and
clerk, for said election. The rental for each polling place where a charge is
made, shall be the sum of $10.00 for said election.

SECTION 6: That the polls for said election shall be open at seven
o'clock A. M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously
from said time until seven o'clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls
shall be closed, except as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code of
the State of California.
SECTION 7: That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution,
said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding
municipal elections in said City.
SECTION 8: That notice of the time and place of holding said
election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed
and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election in time,
form and manner as required by law.
SECTION 9: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original
Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, ln
the minutes of the meeting at which the &ame is passed and adopted.
SECTION 10: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately.
PASSED. APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Seal Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of January,
1960.
