A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, A CHARTER CITY, URGING
THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL SCHEDULED AIR
SERVICE AT LONG BEACH AIRPORT AND SUPPORTING
THE APPLICATION OF PACIFIC SOUTHWEST AIRLINES
BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION FOR
SERVICE CONNECTING LONG BEACH WITH SAN DIEGO,
SAN JOSE, SAN FRANCISCO, OAKLAND, AND SACRAMENTO.
WHEREAS, Long Beach Airport is equipped with complete electronic
navigation and communication aids, is capable of accommodating
aircraft now in commercial service, and provides excellent opera-
tional capabilities for air carriers; and
WHEREAS, Long Beach Airport is geographically situated at a point
which is most convenient for use by the people of an area in south
eastern Los Angeles County and in western Orange County; and
WHEREAS, convenient freeway access to Long Beach Airport is
unsurpassed by any terminal in the country as the San Deigo Freeway
is immediately adjacent to the southerly boundary of the field, and
three north-south freeways are interconnected in close proximity to
the airport; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles-Long Beach and Orange County areas, con-
stituting the second most populous area of the United States, have
an almost unmatched growth record, and the area has become one of
the nation's leading centers of population, industry, business, trans-
portation, world trade, tourism, and recreation, and its importance
will continue to grow; and
WHEREAS, airport congestion, including ground delays, parking, and
surface travel congestion, is a major air transportation problem
requiring immediate development and use of satellite air carrier air-
ports for the major metropolitan areas; and
WHEREAS, the development of Long Beach Airport as a satellite airport
and its utilization by the air carriers would help solve the surface
traffic congestion problems now plaguing Los Angeles International
Airport, and the scheduling of a well-rounded pattern of air passenger
service at Long Beach would be of great convenience to the traveling
public most conveniently served through Long Beach Airport; and
WHEREAS, '.:the City of Long Beach encourages and urges the institution
of additional scheduled air service by all carriers at Long Beach
Airport for the greater convenience of the citizens best served by
Long Beach Airport; and
WHEREAS, Pacific Southwest Airlines has applied to the California
Public Utilities Commission for authority to operate between
Long Beach and San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, and
Sacramento;

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach resolves
as follows:
Section 1. The City of Seal Beach encourages and supports the
development of a well-rounded pattern of scheduled air service at
Long Beach Airport for the greater convenience of the large number of
persons best served through Long Beach Airport.
Section 2. The City of Seal Beach endorses and supports the
application of Pacific Southwest Airlines for authority to provide
scheduled air service between Long Beach and San Diego, San Jose,
San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento, and respectfully urges the
California Public Utilities Commission to process such application
expeditiously.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach, california, at a meeting thereof held on the IJe
day of July, 1968, by the following vote:
