AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL
BEACH, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING, CALLING,
PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF
A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH ON THE 10TH DAY
OF APRIL, 1956, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION TO INCUR
BONDED INDEBTEDNESS BY SAID CITY FOR
A CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT, AND
CONSOLIDATING SAID ELECTION WITH THE
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
ON SAID DATE.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach,
California, did on the 7th day of February, 1956, by a vote
of more than two-thirds of the members of said City Council,
adopt Resolution No. ..iLL, entitled "Resolution of the
City Council of Seal Beach, California, determining that the
public interest and necessity demand the acquisition and con-
struction of a certain municipal improvement, and making find-
ings relating thereto," which said resolution was duly signed
and approved by the Mayor of said city and attested and certi-
fied by the City Clerk of said city;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach,. California, DOES ORDAIN as follows:

Section 1. That a special election be held, and
the same is hereby called to be held, in the City of Seal
Beach, California, on the 10th day of April, 1956, for the
purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said city a
proposition of incurring indebtedness and issuing bonds of
said city therefor, in the amount hereinafter set forth, and
for the object and purpose set forth in said resolution and

hereinafter stated.
Section 2. That the object and purpose for which
said indebtedness is to be incurred and bonds issued there-
for are as follows:
The acquisition and construction by said city
of a certain municipal improvement, to wit: a fire
station building, including the acquisition of all
land, furniture, furnishings and other property
necessary therefor, and the acquisition of fire
fighting equipment, including a fire truck, apparatus,
and equipment necessary therefor.

Section 3. That the estimated cost of the municipal
improvement described in Section 2 hereof is the sum of $60,000
and that the amount of the principal of the indebtedness to
be incurred therefor is the sum of $60,000.
That the maximum rate of interest to be paid on
said indebtedness shall not exceed the maximum rate permitted
by law, to wit, six per cent (6%) per annum, payable annually
the first year and semiannually thereafter, the actual rate
or rates of interest on said bonds to be determined at the
time of the sale or sales thereof.

That if the proposition for the incurring of bonded
indebtedness so submitted receives the requisite number of
votes, to wit, two-thirds of the votes of the qualified elec-
tors voting on said proposition, bonds of said city, in not
exceeding the principal amount stated in such proposition,
shall be issued and sold for the object and purpose set forth
in said proposition.

tion and shall remain open continuously from said time until
seven o'clock P.M., of the same day, when said polls shall
be closed, except as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections
Code of the State of California.
That on the ballots to be used at said special elec-
tion, in addition to any other matters required by law, there
shall be printed substantially the following:
MARK CROSSES (+) ON BALLOT ONLY WITH RUBBER STAMP
NEVER WITH PEN OR PENCIL.
(ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAY BE MARKED WITH PEN AND INK
OR PENCIL.)

To vote on any measure, stamp a cross (+) in the
votin~ square after the word "YES" or after the
word 'NO". All marks, except ,the cross (+) are
forbidden. All distinguishing marks or erasures
are forbidden and make the ballot void.
If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot,
return it to the inspector of election and obtain
another.
On absent voter ballots mark a cross (+) with
pen or pencil.

Section 5. A cross (+) placed in the voting
,square after the word "YES n in the manner hereinbefore pro-
vided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the
question or proposition. A cross (+) placed in the voting
square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore pro-
vided shall be counted against the adoption of the question
or proposition.

Section 6. 'That the special election hereby called
shall be and is hereby ordered consolidated with the general
municipal election to be held in said city on Tuesday, April
10, 1956. and such elections shall be held in all respects
as if there were only one election. and only one form of ballot
shall be used thereat. The precincts, polling places and
officers of election for this special election shall be the
same as those provided for said general municipal election.
and said precincts, polling places and officers of election
are set forth in the resolution providing for said general
municipal election. to wit. Resolution No. 916. adopted
February 7. 1956.
Section 7. That except as otherwise provided in
this ordinance. the election called hereby shall be conducted
as provided by law for other municipal elections in said city.

Section 8. That the City Council of said city
shall meet at its usual place of meeting in the City Hall on
Tuesday. the 17th day of April. 1956. at 7:30 O'clock. P.M..
of said day. and proceed to canvass the election returns and
declare the result of said election.
Section 9. That the City Clerk shall certify to

the passage and adoption of this ordinance by a vote of
more than two-thirds of all of the members of the City
Council of said city and shall cause said ordinance to be
published once a week for two (2) weeks prior to the date
of said election in the SEAL BEACH POST & WAVE. a newspaper
of general circulation printed. published and circulated in
the City of Seal Beach. No other notice of such election
need be given.
Section 10. This ordinance shall take effect upon
its passage.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 21st day of
February. 1956.

duly held on the 21st day of February, 1956, was reread, duly
passed and adopted by said City Council and signed and
