AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORN~.!,__
PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF DANCING IN RESTAUfiUTS,
CAFES AND NIGHT CLUBS' PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL
, ORDINANCES IN CONFLIcT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PENALTY
FOR VIOLATION; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.

The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, does ordain
as follows:
Section 1: Restaurants, Cafes and,Nite-Clubs with DancilU!:;-
Every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on
. publio
the business of a restaurant, cafe or night club wherein/dancing is a part
of such business shall first secure a permit for the operation thereof
from the City Council of the City of Seal Beach by filing an application
with the City Clerk for such permit to conduct and carryon such business.
Such applicant shall :furnish the following information in said permit:
(a) The name of the person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or
carrying on the business; (b) the nams of the manager of such business; and
(c) the looation of said business.
I Section 2: The City Council shall have the right either to grant
or to deny said license, at its discretion.

Section ':I: The City Council may, at any time in its discretion
upon ten (10) days' notice to the applicant, cancel said permit if
in the discretion of the Council said business is operated in such manner
as to disturb the peace, health and safety of the citizens of the City of
Seal Beach.
Section 4: In the event a license is granted by the City CounCil,
the ~pplicant shall pay a license fee for said permit of One Hundred Fifty
($1;0.00) Dollars per year in advance, which license fee shall accompany
the application when the same is filed with the City Clerk.
Section ~: The licensee shall not operate such business without
while dancing is permitted
keeping present and on duty at all timewa special police officer,
commissioned by the Chief of Police of the City of Seal Beach, and the
compensation of said officer for such services shall be paid by the person,
firm or corporation holding such license.
Section 6: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 7: Every person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine in any sum not to exceed
Five Hundred <8,00.00) Dollars or be subject to a jail sentence of not
to exceed six months or subject to both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 8: The City Clerk shall cause this ordinanoe to be published
once in the Seal Beach "Post and Wave", a newspaper of general circulation
printed, published and circulated in said City of Seal Beach, California,
and said ordinance shall take effect thereupon in the manner and at the
time as provided by law.
