ORDINANCE NO. 427
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH FIXING AND
DETERMINING THE TOTAL VALUATION OF THE TAXABLE
PROPERTY OF THE CITY OF SJ'..AL BEACH.!. AND FIXING
AND DET~;INING THE RATE OF TAXES ~DR MUNICIPAL
PURPOSES, AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AND
INTEREST OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR 1952-1953; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICAT~ON.
6 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach does ordain
7 as follows:

Seotion 1: YffiEREAS, the registered voters of the City of
9 Seal Beach, California, under Ordinance No. 154, entitled: "AN
10 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORrIIA, FOR THE ASSESSI-fEN
11 AND COLLECTION OF TAXES IN SAID CITY, THE APPOINTMENT OF A DEPUTY
12 CITY CLERK \1ffiO SHALL BE EX-OFFICIO TAX ASSESSOR, AND REPEALING
13 ORDINANCE NO. 12, AND ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
14 CONFLICT HEREWITH", did at a General Municipal Eleotion held in

said City on August 14th, 1930, and which such Ordinance was
submitted as an Initiative, cast a sufficient number of votes in
17 favor of the adoption of such Ordinance, relative to the assess-
18 ment and collection of taxes by said City and for said municipal
19 corporation, and by said Ordinance there was created in said City
20 the Office of a Deputy City Clerk who shall be Ex-Officio Assess r
21 and Tax Collector of said City; and

Section 2: WHEREAS, such Assessor has completed an
23 Assessment of all taxable property within the corporate limits of
24 said City subject to taxation in accordance with the provisions of
25 said Ordinance, the laws and the Constitution of the State of
26
California, and prepared an assessment roll thereof, and deposited
27 the same with the City Clerk for submission to the City Council of
281 said City, and which City Council has duly equalized the same,

showing the total value of all property within the City of Seal
Beach for the corporate year 1952-1953 as equalized and to be
collected, and fixed the sum, as shown by said Assessment Roll tor
said year at $10,231,920.00; and

Section ~: vlliEREAS, the amount of money ascertained and
2 necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within
3 the City of Seal Beach as a revenue to carryon the various depart-
4 ments of said City, and to pay the bonded indebtedness falling due
5 for the current year 1952-1953 is fixed at the sum of $152,702.00.

Ssction 4: That the total valuation of the taxable
71 property of the City of Seal Beach is the sum of $10,23l,920.00,
8 and shall be used as a basis for the levy of the taxes for the City
9 of Seal Beach, California, which levy shall be made and collected
10 as by law provided.

Section ,: That the rate of taxes for municipal purposes
12 and to pay the bonded indebtedness and interest of the City of Seal
13 Beach, California, for the current year 1952-1953 is hereby fixed
14 at $ 1.50 on each One Hundred Dollars of the taxable property of
15 said City, and said sum is hereby levied upon all of said taxable
16 property of said City as ascertained and assessed by the City
17 Assessor and equalized by the City Council of the City of Seal
l8 Beach, California, as aforesaid, and which rate, so fixed, shall be
19 apportioned among ths general and special funds to pay the current
20 expenses, bonded indebtedness and interest and other indebtedness
21 of said City falling due for the fiscal year 1952-1953 and other
22 several sums to be raised and fixed as provided by law, as follows,
23 to wit:

l. For the General Fund, $.95
on each One Hundred
25 Dollars of the taxable property of said City;

2. For the ~unicipal Improvement Bond Fund of 1929,
27 $.0254 on each One Hundred Dollars of the Taxable property of said
28 City;

3. For the Waterworks Bond Indebtedness Fund of 1921,
30 ~.0175 on each One Hundred Dollars of the taxable property on

said City;
4. For the Sewage Treatment Bond Fund of 1935, $.0196

Section 6: The City Clerk shall certify to the separate
20 vote on this Ordinance and its passage and adoption by a vote of
21 five members of the City Council of the City of Seal Beach, and it
22
approval by the Mayor of the City of Seal Beach, and cause the sam
23
to be published once in the SEAL BEACH POST AND \vAVE, a newspaper
24 printed, published and circulated in the City of Seal Beach, and
25 upon such publication this Ordinance shall become operative and tak

full effect in the manner provided by law.
