RESOLUTION NO. 1339
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEAL BEACH ENDORSING TIlE CONCEPT OF THE CALIFORNIA
WORLD'S FAIR IN ORANGE COUNTY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, the California World's Fair is a project of tremendous
magnitude and worldwide importance, nationally and internationally
endorsed and recognized, with values and benefits of vast potentiall
and
WHEREAS, orange County, as the fastest-growing and most dynamic
county in the State of California -- indeed, in the United States --
is uniquely equipped to act as host to this important projectl and
WHEREAS, the successful production of the California World's
Fair in orange County will provide tremendous immediate and long-term
direct economic benefits, as well as significant indirect benefits,
such as projecting an image of Orange County throughout the world as
a vital and energetic area in which to live and locate a business or
industry, and leave buildings and facilities for the permanent cul-
.tural, recreational and public service use of the citizenry of
Orange County; and
WHEREAS, orange County certainly is possessed of the facilities,
the site, the needed energy and the desire to host such a vast and
important project of national and international significancel and
WHEREAS, successful management of the California World's Fair-
may only be properly achieved through an effective union of leader-
ship derived from business, government,. and local ci tizenrYl and
WHEREAS, orange County communities desire through a public
agency to initiate and promote development of a California World's
Fair site in orange CountYl and
WHEREAS, it is believed that more than one-half of the member-
ship of the Board of Directors of the California World's Fair
non-profit corporation should be orange County representatives.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach endorses the California World's Fair in the premises,
expresses support for the project, and urges the Board of
Supervisors of Orange County to use its best efforts to achieve for
Orange County the role of host to the California World's Fair to
be located at "Mile Square" site in Fountain Valley, California.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED. thG-i9'th day of October J 1964,
by the City Council of the C. of Seal Beach.
