CALIF \ . 1 ORDINANCE NO. .3 10 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE SHAKING OF DICE FOR MONEY OR MERCHANDISE AND PROHIBITING THE KEEPING OR PERMITTING TO BE KEPT PLACES FOR PLAYING CERTAIN GAMES IN THE OITY OF SEAL BEACH ROT PROHIBITED BY SECTION 330 OR 330a OF THE PENAL CODE, AND PROHIBIT- ING THE PLAYING OR BETTING AT SUCH GAMES. 2 3 4 5 6 The Cit;y Council ot the Cit;y of Seal Beach, California, do 7 ordain as follows: 8 SECTION I: It shall be unlawtul for any person, either as 9 principal, agent, emplo;yee or otherwise, to keep, conduot or mtdn- 10 tain within the Cit;y of Seal Beach any house, room, apartment 01' 11 place used in whole or in part as a place where any game not men- 12 tioned in Seotion 330 01' 330a of the Penal Code of the state of 13 California, is played, oonducted, dealt or carried on, with oards, 14 dice, billiard balls, pool balls, cues, or other device, for 15 moner, ohecks, chips, credit or any other representative ot value 16 or for anr merohandi.e or any other thing of value. 17 SECTION 2: It shall be unlawfUl for any person, either as 18 principal, &gent, employee, or otherWise, knowingly to perm1 t any 19 house, room, apartment or place owned b;y him or under his oharge 20 or control, in said Cit;y of Seal Beach, to be used in whole or in 21 part for playing, conducting, dealing or carr;ying on therein any 22 game not mentioned in Section 330 or 330a of the Penal Code of the 23 State of California, with cards, dice, billiard balls, pool balls, 24 cues or other devioe, for money, cheoke, ohips, cre41t 01' any other 25 representative of value or for any merchandise or any other thing 26 of value. 27 SECTION 3: It shall be unlawfUl for any person to plaT 01' 28 bet at or against any game not mentioned in Section 330 or 330a 29 of the Penal Code of the State of California, which is played, con- 30 ducted, dealt or carried on with oards, dice, billiard balls, pool 31 balls, cues, or other devioe, for money, cheoke, chips, credit 01' 32 any other representative of value or for any merohandise or an;y other thing of value. l:. ' Ordinanc~Number '. v ~ 1 SECTION 4: That any person, tirm or oorporation violating 2 any of the provisions of this ordinanoe shell be deemed gu1lty Of 3 a misdemeanor, and on oonviction thereof shall be punishable by 4 a fine of not less than ten ($10.00) dollars or more than five 5 hundred ($500.00) dollars, or by imprisonment in the County Jail 6 for a period of not more than six (6) months, or b;y both such tine 7 and imprisonment. 8 SECTION 5: All ordinanoes or parts of ordinances in oonfl1o 9 herewith are hereb;y expressly repealed. 10 SECTION 6: The Ci t;y Clerk shall oertif;y to the passage and 11 adoption of this ordinance and ehall cause the same to be published 12 by one insertion in the SEAL BEACH POST AND WAVE, a weekly newe- 13 paper printed, publ1shed and oiroUlated in the City of Seal Beach, 14 California, and thirty (30) days after the adoption hereof the 15 same shall take effect and be in foroe. 16 17 18 The above and foregoing Or41nanoe was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Seal Beach -d- ~ - / held on the / day of ~r, 1949, and was finall;y passed and adopted on the day of JUGU~T , 1949, by said City Counoil at a regular me eting thereof, b;y the folloWing vote, to-Wit: 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 AYES, COUNCILMEN: 26 NOES, COUNCILMEN: ~E.
