ORDINANCE NO. ,g B ~

The City of Seal Beach, by and through its City Counoll,
3 does ordain as follows:
4 SECTION I: Parking meter zones shall be established by
5 resolution of the City Council upon such streets or portions of
6 streets, and upon publioly owned property within the City of Seal
7 Beaoh, as it may deem neoessary for traffio or parking oontrol
8 purposes. The Ci ty at~~'t~!~p;e.r.j,:~' shall oause parking meters
9 to be installed and maintalned in suoh designated zones, and the
10 existence of a parking meter, installed as hereinafter presoribed.
11 shall designate its looation as a parking meter zone for the pur-
12 poses of this ordinance.

SECTION 2: Parking meters shall be installed upon such loca-
14 tions as the City Counoil of the City of Seal Beaoh may direot on
15 publioly owned property, and on the streets p8l'king meters shall be
16 installed upon the ourb imme41ately adJaoent to the individual par
17 ing spaoes designated as hereinafter described. Each meter shall
18 be plaoed in suoh manner as to show or displa;y by a visual signal
19 that the parking spaoe adjacent thereto is or is not legally in use

21 painted on publioly owned property on whioh parking may be permitte ,

24 the street adJaoent to eaoh meter in such a manner as to identif;y
25 the parking space w1th each respective meter. It shall be unlawful
26 to park or leave standing any vehicle aoross any suoh line or
27 markings made as herein provided, or in any portion other than
28 wi thin the parking area so designated.
29 SECTION 3: When an;y vehicle shall be p8l'ked in any space

oordance with the provisions of this ordinance, the operator of
said vehicle upon so p8l'king shall, and it shall be unlawful to
fail to, deposit immediately one or more ooins of the Unlted states

1 in such parking meter and then turn the operating key or lever
2 of sald meter in a clockwise direction to the extent allowed by the
3 proper operation of the meter. Parking meters, When installed,
4 shall be so adJusted as to ehow legal parking during a period of
5 twel ve minutes upon and after the deposit of a United states ooin
6 therein, or twenty-four minutes or more upon the deposit of more
7 United States coins therein, the amount to be deposited tor each
8 separate amount of time to be designated on the meters.

SECTION 4: It shall be unlawfUl for any person to park 01'
10 leave standing any vehicle in any parking meter zone at any time
11 during Which the meter in41cates that the parking space is illegal-
12 ly in use, except during the time necessary to set the said meter
13 to show legal parking, and except also during the time which will
14 be designated upon said meters as being free from the provisions
15 of this ordinance.
16 SECTION 5: It shall be unlawfUl to deposit or cause to be
17 deposited in any parking meter any slug, devioe or any substitute
18 for the coins of the United States.

SECTION 6: It shall be unlawfUl for any person to defaoe,
20 injure, tamper with, open or wilfUlly break, destroy, or impair
21 the usefUlness of any parking meter installed under the prOVisions
22 of this ordinance.

SEOTION 7: All moneys received from parking meters shall be
24 deposited with the City Treasurer, whose duty it shall be to imme-
25 diately deposit the same in the General Fund of' said City.

SECTION 8: Any person violating any of the provisions of
this or41nanoe shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than
.300.00, or by imprisonment not exceeding three months, or by both
30 such fine and imprisonment.

SEOTION 9: If any seotion, sub-section, sentence, clause,
32 or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be uncon-
stitutional, suoh decision shall not affect the Validity of the

2 declares that it would have passed this ordinance, end each section,
3 sub-seotion, sentence, clause and phrase thereof, irrespect1ve of
4 the tact that anyone or more seotions, sub-sections,:sentenoe,

5 olause or phrase be declared unconsti tutional.
6 SECTION 10: All ordinances 01' portions of ordinances in
7 oonfliot with this ordinance are hereby speoifioally repealed.
8 SECTION 11: This ordinanoe shall be printed an'd publ1shed
9 once in the SEAL BEACH POST AND WAVE, end shall take effeot and
10 be in full force thirty days from and after 1ts final adoptlon.
