PURPOSE OF SlJEMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION TO
LEVY A TAX OF TEN CENTS (10;) ON EACH
ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS (~100.00) OF THE
ASSESSED VALUATION OF THE CITY OF SEAL
BEACH FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPl-LYING FUNDS
FOR THE !';AINTENANCE OF FIRE EQUIPMENT,
THE PURCHASE OF NEW FIRE EQUIPMENT, AND THE
KAINTENANCE OF NEWI FIRE EQUIPMENT FOR

FORCE AND EFFECT FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5)
YEARS ONLYi CONSOLIDATING SAID ELECTION

NOVEMBER 5, 1946 AND PROVIDING THAT THIS
ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT UPON PUBLICA-
TION.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach,
California, did on the 20th day of September, 1946, by a vote of
more than two-thirds of the reembers of said Council, adopt
Resolution NO..fIl- entitled, "Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Seal Beach, California, requesting that the pro-
posed Seal Beach Special ~unicipal Election to be held on
Kovember 5, 1946 be consolidated with the General Election to be
held on said date.", and which resolution was duly signed and
approved by the Mayor of the City of Seal Beach and attested by
the City Clerk of said city.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Seal Beach
do ordain as follows:

Section 1: That a special. election be held and the same
is hereby called to be held in the City of Seal Beach, California,
on the 5th day of November, 1946 for the purpose of submitting to
the qualified voters of said city the proposition to levy a tax
of ten cents (lOt) on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of the

assessed valuation of the City of Seal Beach for the object and
purposeas set forth in said resolution and hereinafter stated.
Section~: That the object and purposes for which said
tax levy is proposed to be incurred is for the following purposes,
"For the purpose of supplying funds for the maintenance of fire
equipment, the purchase of new fir.e equipment, and the maintenance
of new fire equipment for municipal uses, such levy to be in full
force and effect for a period of five (5) years only."
Section 1: That the polls for said electicn shall be
opened at 7:00 o'clock A.l:. of the day of said election and shall
remain open continuously from said time until 7:00 o'clock P.M.
of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as
provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code of the State of
California.
That on the ballots to be used at said special election,
in additicn to any other matters required by law, there, shall be
printed substantially the following:
Mark cross (..) on ballot ONLY lITTH RUBBER ST~P; never
with pen or pencil.
(ABSENTEE BALLOTS may be marked with PEN AND I1'K OR PENCIL.)
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS.
To vote on any measure, stamp a cross (..) in the voting
square after the word "Yes" or after the word "Noll All
marks except the cross (..), are forbidden. All dis-
tinguishing marks or erasers are forbidden and make
the ballot void. If you wrongly stamp, tear, or deface
this ballot, return it to the inspector of election and
obtain another.
On absent voter's ballot mark a cross (..) with pen or
pencil.

PROPOSITION: Shall the City of Seal Beach
levy a tax of ten cents (lC~) on each one hundred
dollars ($100.00) of the assessed valuation of
the City of Seal Beach for the purpose of supply-
ing funds for the ~aintenance of fire equipment,
the purchase of nevI fire equipment, and the mainten-
ance of new fire equipment for municipal use, such
levy to be in full force and effect for a period
of five (5) years only?

A cross (.) stamped in the voting square after the
word "YES" shall be counted in favor of the adoption of
the question or proposition. A cross (+) stamped in the
voting square after the VTord "NO" shall be counted against
the adoption of the question or proposition.
Section 2: That said election hereby called shall be and
is hereby ordered consolidated ~ith th~ general election to be
held on Tuesday, November 5, 1946, and within the City of Seal
Beach the precincts, polling places, voting booths and officers
of election for the special election hereby called shall be the
same as those provided for said general election. The said
precincts, polling places and names of the election officers are
to be set forth in a notice entitled "Notice by the Registrar of
Voters of names of election officers appointed and polling p~aces
designated for the general election" \'1hich is to be published
by the Registrar of Voters of Orange County in the Santa Ana
Register on October..2:!;b.. ,and 8th, 1946, and reference
is hereby made to said notice.
Section~: That in all particulars not recited in this
ordinance, the election here called shall be held and conducted
as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City
of Seal Beach.

Section 2: That the Council of said City of Seal Beach
shall meet at its usual place of meeting in the, City Hall on
Tuesday, November 12, 1946 at 7:00 o'clock P.M. of said day and
proceed to canvass the election returns and declare the results
of the election hereby called.
Section,/!l That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause said
ordinance to be published in the Seal Beach ~ &~, a news-
paper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated
in the City of Seal Beach, and the same shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication
as provided by law.
