'1 I I I: Ordinance Number . .. . 1 the number of the tag given 2nd the date thereof. 2 SEC~IOR 5: The Chief of Police shall seize 3 and impound every dog running at large within the 4. City of Seal aeach, provided however, that no such 5 seizure shall be made of any dog having attached the 6 license tag as provided for in this ordinance, exceptl 7 as provided in Section 6 hereof. 8 SEQIION-6: It shall be unlawful for any per- 9 son as owner or in control of any dog to permit the 10 same to be upon any public beach, public pier, public 11 school ground, public street or c:lley, or any other 12 public place unless restrained by a leash, or under 13 the absolute control of such person, and the Chief of 14. Police or any other official of the City shall take 15 up 2nd impound and safely keep each dog found vithin 16 the City of Seal Beach in violation of the provisions I 17 of this ordinance, to be held and disposed of as herel 18 inafter provided. 19 SECTION 7: Upon the impounding of any dog, th 20 Chief of Police or his assistants shall immediately 21 notify the owner thereof if knorrn, and unless such do 22 be redeemed by the OTIner or other person within three 23 (3) days after the date of impounding, by the payment 24 of a fee of T~O (~2.00) DOLLARS for impounding such 25 plus license tax for the current year for such dog, 26 provided that the said license has not been previousl 27 paid, then the Chief of Police at the expiration of S8 such three (3) days may order the dog killed in a huma e 29 manner and the c~rcass buried at the City Dump, \tho 30 she.ll be ~aid tIle sum of ONE (.,31.00) DOLLAR by the Ci t ~1 for each dog so destroyed. 32 SECTION 8: The Chief of Police shall keep a record of all dogs impounded and shall make a true an correct report to the City Council on or before the -2- I I I ., Ordinance Number ..' .- , . . . 1 first 1"'~'Y of eaoh month oovering the business Of 2 the preceding month showing the number of licenses 3 issued, the number of dogs impounded, the disposition ~ macleof them, the number redeemed, by whom redeemed, 6 the address of the person redeeming, Qnd the amount ~ of money recei ved by him for the redemption of dogs. J SECTION 9: All money received by the Chief 8 of Poli ce as redemption fees and license fees prov~dec 9 herein, shall be by him, paid to tIle City Treasurer 10 once each month. 11 SECTION 10: The Chief of Police shall pro- 12 vide all dogs in his custody with proper food and 13 water and shall give them all necessary care and atte - 14 tion, and the expense incident thereto shall be a 15 proper charge against said City and said Chief of 16 Police'shall be reimbursed out of the General Fund 17 of the Ci ty for such expense paid by him. 18 SECTION 11: Any person who violates any pr,o- 19 vision of this ordinance shall be guilty or a mis- 20 demeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punish 21 ed by a fine of not exoeeding TEN ($10.00) DOLLARS, 0 22 by imprisonment in the City Jail for not exceeding 23 ten (10) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. 24 SECTION l2: O~dinance No. 6 and all ordin- 25 ances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict wi~h this 26 ordinance are hereby repealed. 27 SECTION 13: The City Clerk shall certify the 28 passage and adoption of this ordinance and cause the 29 same to be pUblished in the Seal Beach Bost & Wave, 30 a newspaper of general circulation printed, ~Ubllsh.d 31 and circulated in said Ci ty, and it is hereby de'~", 32 .~ ted for that purpose, and shall take effect thirty ., , J -~ ~ . , . .. -:3- ':'_ .._J.... .1' ":'~.J'~"',,,,,~. 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 I HEREBY CER~H'Y that the foregoing Ordinance 16 Jlas adop ted by the City Council of the City 0 f Seal 17, Beach at a regula:r meeting of the Council held the ,,' ~t ' , '.~8-''- ~/::-day of January" 1943, and that :the same was . ~ ' 19, ',adopted by the following vote, to wi t: rJI. ~A' 20 AYES: couneilmen':J.~.t;;~'Y~~ ~ 21 NOES: Councilmen tF!..~ q . 22 ABSENT: councllmen~ 23 24 25 26 27 / ~;. . .1. 28 - 29 -- 30 31 32 -I I -, I t.
