The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, 7 California, does ordain as follows: 8 9 That Ordinance No. 26g of the City of Seal 10 Beach, California, enti tled !IAN ORDINAI,:CE OP THE CITY 11 OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFOl,NIA, iJlJI.i:NDING ORDINAl:CE NO. 258 12 BYA:.~Er\DINGSEC~IO;:S (d), (e), (g) and (h) TH:":~:J:OF," 13 and adopted by the City Council of the City of Seal 14 Beach on the 3rd day of September, 1942, be aoended 15 by amending Section (h) thereof to read as follows: 16 (h) POLICi: DEPARTr.~:;;:HT. 17 The Department of Police of said City shall b 18 under the direction and control of a Chief of Police 19 who shall be appointed by the City Council and hold 20 such office at the pleasure of such Council. It shall 21 be the duty of the Chief of Police to prosecute before 22 the City Court all breaches or violations of or the 23 non-compliance with any ordinance of said City vuich 24 shall come to his knowledge. The Chief of Police, in 25 addition to such duties, shall collect all City licens s 26 excepting contractor's licenses, and shall deposit 27 said amounts in the office of the City Treasurer 28 FonthlY, and shall perform all duties required by law 29 land Statutes of the Stute of California. CALIF. -1- 1 XXmc:xttOOlOtllGleX::J02CXXmCQXDOal~~~X~~' 2 The Chief of Police may appoint, subject to 3 the approval and confirmation of the City Council, one 4 or more Police Officers, including a woman police 5 officer, to be lmown as the Police Matron. The Chief 6 of Police may also, with concurrence of the Mayor, 7 when the same is deemed necessary for the preservation 8 of the public order, appoint acditional police officer 9 and shall perform such other services as the General 10 Laws of the Stat3, Ordinances, Resolutions and Motions 11 Of the City Council may require. The compensation of 12 Police Officers shall be ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE DOLLAR 13 ($165.00) each per month, payable monthly for the 14 first six (6) months Of service, for the next succeed- 15 ing six (6) months of service the sum of ONE HUNDRED 16 SEVEn'TY DOLLARS ($170.00) each per month, payable 17 monthly, and at the expiration of one (1) year of 18 service the compensation of Police Officers shall be 19 the sum of ONE HUNDRED SEVEriTY-FIVE DOLLARS (~175.00) 20 each per month, payable monthly. The Police Sergeant 21 shall receive the sum of ONE HUN~RED ~IGH~DOLLARS 22 (~180.00) per month, payable monthly, from date of 23 appointment. The compnesation of the Police Matron 24 shall be FORTR DOLLARS (~40.00) per month, payable 25 monthly for the first six (6) months of employment and 26 the sum of FIFTY DOLL1~S (~50.00) per month. payable 27 monthly, at the expiration of six (6) months from date 28 of employment. The compensation of Police Matron to 29 be retroactive and have full force and effect from and 30 after the 1st day of October, 1942. 31 PASSED, ADOPTED :~l\'D APPROVED this_17~day of 32 June, 1942.
