CALIFORNIA, CREATING AND PROVIDING FOR OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE MUNICIPAL GOVER~mENT OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH. IN THE COUNTY OF ORANGE STATE OF CALIFORNIA~ FIXING THE SALARIES, COMPENSATIONS AND BuNDS. AND DEFINING THE DUTITES INCIDENT THERETO AND REPEAL- ING ALL ORDINANCES AND FARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE. 41 5 6 I 7 8 91 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach. California, does ordain as follows: section 1: CITY MECHANIC That the Water and Street superintendent is further authorized to employ a City Mechanic or Garage Man at the rate of ONE DOLLAR TWENTY CENTS ($1.20) per hour. whose duty it shall be to keep all mechanized and other equipment of said City in good order and repair under the direction of said 18 SUperintendent. Any Acting City Mechanic or Garage 19 Man temporarily appointed shall receive the same 20 salary as a regularly employed City Mechanic or 21 Garage Man. The compensation of the City Mechanic 22 or Garage Man and Acting City Mechanic shall be 23 retroactive and have full force and effect from and 24 after the 1st day of May. 1944. 25 26 27 28 29 30 Section 2: MAINTENANCE FOREMAN --STREET. WATER AND SEWER DEPARTMENTS. That there is hereby created and provided for the position of Maintenance Foreman, who shall supervise all street and construction work in and about said City of Seal Beach, California, the :51 32 DANA R. CAl..l.... -l- I I I '- ' Ordinance Number 1. collection and disposal of all garbage and refuse. 2 the operation of the water and sewer plants and 3 systems. and direct, hire and discharge all laborers 4 engaged in occupations in connection therewith, re- 5 serving to the City Council the right to designate 6 the number of laborers to be employed and who shall 7 perform any and all other duties required by 8 Ordinance, Resolution or Orders of the City Council 9 of said city. The compensation of such Maintenance 10 Foreman shall be the sum of TWO HUNDRED SIXTY 11 DOLLARS (~260.00) per month, payaule monthlY. The 12 compensation of such Maintenance Foreman shall be 13 retroactive and have full force and effect from 14 and after the 8th day of May, 1944. Said City 15 Council may from time to time engage the services of 16 a consulting Engineer at such compensation as the 17 City Council may determine. provided, further, 18 however, that the Maintenance Foreman may employ a 19 Sewer Maintenance Man at the rate of ONE DOLLAR 20 TWENTY CENTS ($1.20) per hour. The compensation of 21 the Sewer Maintenance Man shall be retroactive and 22 have full force and effect from and after the 23 1st day of May, 1944. 24 25 Section 3. TRUCK DRIVERS A~D LABORERS. 26 That the Water and Street Superintendent 27 is further authorized to employ day laborers at 28 ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) per hour and to employ truck 29 'drivers at ONE DOLLAR FIVE CENTS ($1.05) per hour 30 and tractor drivers at ONE DOLLAR TEN CENTS ($1.10) 31 per hour, with respect to the various City Departments 32 hereinabove referred to, upon the authority of the DA"'A R. The compensa- 2 tion of the laborers, truck drivers and tractor 3 drivers shall be retroactive and have full force 4 and effect from and after the 1st day of May, 1944. 5 Section 4: CLERK OF POLICE DEPARTMENT 6 That there is hereby created and provided 7 for the position of Clerk of the Police Department, 8 whose duty shall be the keeping of records and 9 general office work in connection with the administra- 10 tion of the Police Department. The compensation of 11 the Clerk of the Police Department shall be the sum 12 of ONE HUNDRED T~ENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($125.00) per 13 month and shell be retroactive and have full force 14 and effect from and after the 1st day of June, 1944. 15 Section 5: CAPTAIN OF LIFE GUARDS 16 That there is hereby created and provided for 17 the position of Captain of Life Guards whose duty 18 it shall be to supervise all Life Guards employed 19 by the city and he shall act as a Life Guard for 20 said city in activities as are usually performed by 21 I Life Guards. The compensation of such Captain of 22 Life Guards shall be the sum of ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) , 23 ' per hour and shall be retroactive and have full force 24 and effect from and after June 1st, 1944. 25 Section 6: All Ordinances or parts of 26 Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are 27 hereby repealed. 28 shall cause this the SEAL BEACH Section 7: The City Clerk 29 Ordinance to be published once in 30 31 32 POST & ~AVE, a newspaper of general circulation. -3- DANA R.
