The Oity Oounoil of the Oity of Seal Beach, Oalifornia,
does ordain as follows:
Beotion 1. That Seotion 16 of Ordinance No. 225, en-
titled as above, whioh Beotion reads as follows: "Seo. 10.
BEAOH UMBRELLAB, SURF BOARDS AND BIJaLAR DEVICES. Every person
oonducting, managing or oarrying on the business of maintaining a
beach umbrella, surf board or similar devioe stand or plaoe for
the purpose of renting, leasing or selling the same to the publio
shall pay a lioense tax of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) per year
p,r stand; provided, however, that such business shall not be
subjeot to the lioense stated herein, if oonducted from a regularl
established plaoe of business ineaid Oity whioh is subjeot to and
pays a general merohandise lioense tax otherwise provided for in
this ordinance,"
be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows; to-wit:
Seo. 16. BEAOH UMBRELLAS, SURF BOARDS AND BIJlILAR DEVIO S.
Every person oonducting, managing or oarrying on the business of
maintaining a beaoh umbrella, surf board, or similar devioe stand,
or place for the purpose of renting, leasing or selling the same
to the ~ublio, shall pay a lioense ~ax of Twenty-five Dollars
(t2~.00J per year for the first stand and rive Dollars ($5.00) per
year for eaoh branch stand; provided, however, that said business
shall not be s~\ieot to the license stated herein if mnduoted
from a regular/established plaoe of business in said OitYl whioh
i. subjeot to and pays a general merohandise lioense tax n said
OLty; and provided, further, that any such stand situated other
- th&IL at an established plaoe of business, shall be looated only wi h
the approval and subjeot to the direotion of the Chief of Polioe 0
said Oity, who shall also have authority to looate and designate
areas in whioh surf boards may be operated along the publio beach
of said Oity.
Beotion 2. All ordinanoes or par" of ordinanoes in oon-
fliot with this ordinanoe are hereby repealed.
Seotion 3. The Oity Olerk .shall oause this ordinanoe to
be published once in the Seal Beaoh Post & Wave, a newspaper of
general oiroulation, printed and published and oirculated in sai4
Oity of Beal Beaoh, and it shall thereupon take effJot.
