AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA,
PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING AND REGULATION OF AMATUBR
OR PROFESSIONAL ATHLETIC EVENTS INCLUDING WALKING AND
DANCING CONTESTS, TENT SHOWS; CARNIVALS, CIRCUSES, AND
SIMILAR AMUSEMENTS CARRIED ON WITHIN SAID CITY, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO.l52 BY ADDING A NEW SEDTION NO.86-C filERErO,
FlXING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IlII CONFLJlCT HEREWITH

The City Council of the City of Seal Beaoh, California,do ordain
4 as follows:

Sec.4: RlnULATIONS. The holder of any suoh license in addition to
the payment of such license tax s~ll at his or ibs pwn cost and ex-
pense provide for a police officer of said city, or polioe officers'l
if in the judgment of said City Counoil more than one be necessary,
for the purpose of lIICIintaining order at such plaoe of business dur- I
ing all of the time at which the same is open to the publio; and in
case of amatuer or professional athletio events or contests invo1vim'
physical exertion, shall retain and emply a duly accredited physicia
and surgeon subject to oall for medical assistanceand servioes at a I
times. That fUrther in event prizes in cash, percentages or commiss~
ions are offered to oontestants suoh fUnd or fUnds shall be desposi ed
with appropriate instruotions at sClllle Bank, or regularly estiila1she
plaoe of business l'hioh has been in operation for at least six montbls
in said City.

Sec.5. REVOCATION OF LICENSE. Should such license be granted
then the City Clerk shall issue the 1icemse hereunder; and, provide
further, that any license hereunder shall be non-transferable from
the proposed place of business designated in the application to an-
other Dnd/or from the person to whom issued to another, and that
said license shall be revecab1e by the City Council of said City at
any time after the issuance thereof, should the City Council, ofter
such investigation os it may deom sufficient, determine that the
h01der thereof has violated any of the terms and conditions of this
ordinance or other ordinances of said City and Laws of the State
of california and/ortthat the conduct of such business has become
detrimental to public welfare, health or morals.
Sec.6. PENAL CLAUSE. It shall be unlawful for any person,whethe
as principal, agent, clerk, employee or otherwise, either for him-
self, or for any other person, firm or corporation, or otherwise,
to commence, oarry on, conduct or operate any such contest, orouse-
ment or business without firat hoving procured a license from said
City so to do, or w.bhout complying with all of the regu1otions
herein contained, and a failure so to do, shall constitute a separ-
ate violation of this ordinance for eaah and every day that such
business shall be operated in said city and any such persons or
person violating any of the previsions of this ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeonor and upon conviction thereof, shall
be punished by a fine of not more than Three Hundred Do11ars(g300. 0).
or by imprisonment for 0 term not exceeding three(3)months, or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Sec.7. REPEAL. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances &n
conflict with this ordinanae are hereby repealed.

Sec.8. That the City Clerk shall cause this orlinance to be
published once in the SeD1 Beacl). Post &: \lsve, a newspaper of gener
al circulation, printed, published and cirou1ated in aaid City of
Seal BeDch, and it shall thereupon take effect.
