AN ORDINANCE OF THE OITY OF SEAL BEAOH, CALIFORNIA,
FIXING THE RAT:::: OF TAX33 NECESSARY AS A REV'mIDE TO
OARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE OITY OF SEAL
BEACH, AND TO PAY THE BONDED IIiID.mTEDNESS FALLING DUE

PROPERTY OF SAID OITY OF SEAL BEACH.
The City Council of the City ot Seal Beqch, California, do
prdain; as follows:
\IHEREAS, the registered voters of the Oity of Seal Beach,
Calitornia, under Ordinance No.154, entl:bled: "An Ordinance of the
City of Seal Beach, California, for the Assessment and Collection of
Taxes in said Oity, the Appointment ot a Deputy Oity Clerk who shall
be Ex-Officio Tax Assessor, and Repealing Ordinance No.12, and all
Ordinances or parts of Ordinance. in conflict herewith", did at a
General Municipal Election held in said City on April 14th, 1930, at'
which such Ordinance was submitted as an Initiative, cast assfficien
number of votes in tavor ot the adotion of such Ordinance, relative
to the assessment and collection ot taxes by said Oity and for said
municipal corporation, and by said Ordinance there was created in sa
Oity the Office of a Deputy City Clerk who shall be Ex-Ofticio Asees
and Tax Collector ot said Oity; and,
~7HEREAS, such Assessor has completed an Assessment of all t
able property within the corporate limits of said City subject to t
tion in accordance with the provisions ot said Ordinance, the laws a
the Constdtution of the State of California, and prepared an assessm
roll thereof, and deposited the same with the City Clerk for submiss
to the Oity Council ot said City, and which City Council has duly eq
ized the same, showing the total value ot all property within the Oi
ot Seal Beaoh for the corporate year 1939-1940 as equalized and to b
collected, and fixed the sum, as shown by said Assessment, Roll for s
year at: C> 6.994.425.00 ; and,
iIHEREAS, the amount of money ascertained and necessary to be
raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the Oity of Seal
Beach as a revenue to carryon the various departments of said Oity,
and to pay the bonded indebtedness fal~ing 4ue for the current year
1939-1940 is fixed at the sum ot ~ 59,452.61 ; and,

\IHEREAS, said sum is to be aport'ioned among the various depar
ments ot the City ot Seal Beach and placed in the General and Specia
Funds to pay cQrrent municipal expemses on the assessed value of all
real and personal property within such municipality over and above
the several sums raised and to be raised as provided by law; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE OITY COUNCIL; as follows:
Section 1: That the total valuation of the taxable property of
the City ot Seal Beach is the sum of C 6,994,425.00 and shall be
used as a basis for the levy of the taxes tpr the Oity ot Seal Beach,
Calitornia, which levy shall be made and collected as by law provide .
Section 2: That the rate ot taxes for municipal purposes and
pay the bonded indebtedness and interest ot the Ci~y o~ Seal Beach,

California, for the current year 1939-1940 is hereby fixed at $ 0.85
on each One Hundred Dollars of the taxable property of said City, and
said sum is hereby levied upon all of said taxable property of said
City as ascertained and assessed by the City Assessor and,equalized
by the City Council of the City ot Seal Beach, Calitornia, as atore-
said, and which rate, so fixed, shall be apportioned among the genera~
and special funds to pay the current expenses, bonded indebtedness an..
interest and other indebtedness of said City talling due for the tis-
cal year 1939-1940 and other several sums to be raised and fixed as
provided by law, as follows; to wit:
1. For the General Fund $O.S3'7:!. on each One Hundred Dollars of
the taxable property of said City;
2. For the Music and Promotion Fund $. 0.05990n each One Hundrei
Dollars of the taxable property at said City;
3. For the Sewage Treatment Bond Fund ot 1935 () 0.0251 on each
One Hundred Dollars of the taxable property of said City;
4. For the Municipal Pier Bond Fund ot 1938, Series~One, 00.0 31
on each One Hundred Dollars o~ the taxable property of said City;
5. For the Municipal Pier Bond Fund of 1938, Series Two,~O.O& 8
on each One Hundred Dollars ot the taxable property of said City;

Section 3: The City Clerk shall cause this Ordinance to be
published once in the Seal Beach Post & Wave, a newspaper printed,
published and generally circulated in the City of Seal Beaah,Californta,
and it shall thereupon take effect.
