Truck Drivers and Laborers. That in addition to t toregoing provisions of this ordinance the Water and Street Superin- tendent is turther authorized to employ truok drivers and necessary day laborers at Sixty Cents($O.60)per hour, in respect to suoh var- ious departments hereinbetore created, only~ however, upon authorit ot said City Councl1 firS't had and' obtained ; be, and the same is hereby amended, to read; as tollows: Seotion 2c. That the Foreman ot Me - tenance, a position hereinafter oreated in Section 4 ot this Ordina e, is authorized to employ truck drivers and necessary day laborers at Sixty-two and one-halt Cents($O.625)per hour, in respect to such v ious departments hereinbefore and hereinafter created, subject,how- ever to the turther control of the City Council as to the number to be employed. SECTION 2: That Section l(e)ot'Ordinance No.192, entitled as above which Section reads; as tollows: ~Section l(e). Department ot Marshall and Chiet ot Police. The Department ot Police ot said City shall be under the direotion and oontrol ot a Marshall who shall be Ex-Otticio Chiet of Polioe, and shall perform all duties required by the law and Statutes at the St ot California and Ordinances and Resolutions ot the City Council ot said City not in conflict therewith and shall receive as compensa- tion One Hundred and Fitty DollarsC6150.00)per month, payable month together with the sum ot Forty Dollars($40.00)monthly as an allowan for the use of an automobile and other equipment. The City Council may appoint such additional deputy Marshalls and Police Ofticers as in their opinion may be necessary at a stipulated salary of One Hun and Twenty-five Dollars($185.00)per month, payable monthly, togethe with a monthly allowance tor eaoh of such officers tor maintenance equipment, in an amount not to exoeed Forty Dollars($40.00)per mont payable monthly"; be, and the same is hereby amended, to read; as follows: Section lee). The Chiet ot Police may also, with concurrence ot the Mayor, when the same is deemed nece~sary tor the prese~ation of the public order, appoint additional police ofticers, and Shall perform such other se vices as the General Laws ot the State, Ordinances, and Resolutions of the City Oouncil shall require. The compensation ot police otfic rs shall be One Hundred and Fitty Dollars($I56000)each per month, paya le monthly, and the compensation ot the Police Matron shall be Twenty- Five Dollars($25.00)per month, payable monthly. SECTION 3: That Section leg) of Ordinance NO.166, entitled as above, which section reads; as tollows: "Section l(g). Recorder's Court. The Recorder shall be ex-offic 0 City Judge and shall have the powers and pertorm the duties ot a Magistrate, and pertorm such and all other duties as are provided b law and the Statutes of the State ot California. He shall receive as compensation the sum of Twenty-tive Dollars($25.00~er month, and be allowed an additional sum ot Twenty-tive Dollars($25".OO)per month, as clerk hire"; be, and the same is hereby amended to read; as tollows: S"ectlon Ltg). CITY COURT. The City Court shall have the same jurisdiction as a Justice's Court ot Class B in al~ civil and crimi actions arising within the corporate limits ot the City of Seal Bea and that might be tried in such Justice's Court, according to the of practice and procedure set forth in the General Laws ot the Stat of California and Ordinances ot said City. The City Judge shall be Judge ot the City Court and shall have the powers and perform the duties ot a Masistrate; he shall receive as compensation the sum ot Eighty Dollars($80.00)per month, payable monthly. SECTION 4: That Seetlon 2a ot Ordinance No.218, entitled as abo which section reads; as tollows: - "Section 2a. Foreman-Street and Water Departments. That there is hereby created and provided for the positions ot Labor Foreman and Assistant Foreman in the departments ot the Water Superintendent an Street Superintendent, and that the comp,naation of such Labor Fore- man shall be the sum of One "Hundred Sixty-f1ve DOllars($165.00)per month, payable monthly; and, ot such Assistant Foreman the sum of Five Dollara($5.00)per day,payabls semi-monthly; suoh toremen to pe torm such duties as from time to time have been prov1ded by the Ordi nances, Resolutions 01' Orders of the City Counoi~ ot said City, and under the direction ot the Water an9-1Sf;reet.:Super1ntendent"; be, and the same is hereby amended to read; as tollows: Section 2a.
