The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California, do ordain;
as tol10ws:
Section 1. ~hat Section 1, subdivision (e) of Ordinance NO.166,

FICIALS AND E..M:PLOYl!:ES," which reads as follows:
"Section 1.(e) Department of the Marshall and Chief of Police.
The Department of the Police of said City shall be
under the direction and control of the Marshall who shall be EK.Officio
Chiet ot Police, and shall perform all duties required by the law and
Statutes ot the State of California and Ordinances and Heso1utions of
said City not in cont1ict therewith, and shallt receive as compensatlon
One Hundred and Fifty Dollars($150.00)per month, payable month1y,to-
gether with the sum of Twenty-five Do1lars($25.00)monthly as an allow-
ance for the use of an automobile and other equipment. The Board ot
'l'rustees and City Council ma~ appoint such additional deputy iIlarsha11s
and Police Officers as in their opinion may be necessary, at a stipu-
lated salary of One Hundred and Twenty-tive Dol1ars($125.00)per month,
payable monthly, together with a monthly a1mowance for each of such of-
ficers for the maintenanue of equipment,in an amount not to exceed
Twenty-five Dol1ars(025.00)per month, payable month1y~
shall be amended to read; as to1lows:
Section 1. (e)Department of the 1~rshall and Chiet of Pollce.
The Department of the Pollce of said City s~a1l be

~s~above in Section 1 of this Ordinace,TIhich reads as folluws:
"Section 1. (f) Department ot the City Assessor, Tax Collector
and Hater Superintendent.
There is hereby created and provided for the office ot City
Assessor, Tax Collector, and \/ater Superintendent. ':rhe City Assessor
and Tax Collector shall also be Deputy City Clerk and City Assessor
and Deputy J.iarshall and Elt-Officio Tax Collector of sald city, and
shall collect and pay all real and personal property taKes of said
city into the office of the City Treasurer monthly. That in addition
to the above foregolng dutles the City Assessor and Tax Collector
sgall perform such other duties in respect to such otflces as have
been from time to tlme provided for by the Ordinances of said city
and TIhich may hereatter be provided tor by Ordinance,Resolutions, or
Orders ot the City Council ot the said City.
'fhat the :later Superintendent in a ddition to the above foregoing
duties, as City Asessor and Tax Collector, shall compute and mail out
all monthly bllls to TIater cmnsumers and collect for the same as by
ordinance provided in said city,paying the same into the office of
the City Treasurer monthly.
That the '1later Superlntendent shall be and also pel'form the
duties ot Street Superintendent, Sewer Inapector,Building Inspector,
3lectrical and Plumbing Inspector, ot said city and such other duties
in respeot to such office and/or offices as from time to tlme ijBve been
provided for by the pr41nances ot said city and uhich may hereatter
be provided for by Ordinances, Resolutions or Orders of the City Councll
of the said city.
That the compensation of the City Assessor,Tax Collector and \later
Superintendent shall be the sum of One I:undred Fmtty{Q150.00)Dollars,
per month, payable monthly; that in additlon to the above compensation
the City Council may allol'lnauch City Assessor and Tax Collector an
additlonal sum or sums for equipment and office supplies and further
authorize the employment upon authority of sald Clty Ccuncll tirst
had and obtained, additional stenographic, clerical and office assit-
ants, for such periods of time and at such compensation as may be
determined by said City Council.
That in addition to the above compensation the Ilater Superintendent
ls further authorixed to employ tuo(2)additional men or assistants in
each department or departments thereot at the rate of fifty{50~)cents
per hour payable monthly and to employ necessary dsy laborers in re-
spect to such various dopartments at the rate of fortY~40~)cents,

ordinance provided in said city,paying the same into the office of
the Clty Treasurer monthly.

Electrical and Plumbing Inspector, of said City and such other dutles
in respect to such office and/o>> offices as from time to time hove
been provided for by the Ordinances of said City and which may here-
atter be proviaed tor by Ordinances,Resolutlons or Orders ot the City
Council of the said City.
That the pompensation of the City Assessor, Tax Collector and
Water Superlmtendent shall be the sum of One Hundred and Fifty
Dollars(~150.00),per month, payable monthly, together wlth the sum
of Flfty Dollars('50.00)per month, payable monthly, for clerical
work in such tax and water departments; that in addition to the above
compensation the City Council may allow such City Assessor and Tax
Collector an additional sum or sums for equipment and otfice supplies
and further authorize the employment upon authority ot said City
Council first had and obtained, additional stenographic, clerlcal and
otfice assistants, for such periods ot time and at such compensation
as may be determined by said City Councll.
That ln additlon to the above compensation the \later Superinten-
dent is further authorized to empl~y a trdck driver or truck drivers
at $ ,l!-.5d per day and necessary day laborers at ~ 3.70 per day in
respect to such various departments,only,however,upon authorlty ot
said City Council first had and obtalned.
Section 2a.Foremsn-Street and Water Departments.
'rhat there is hereby created and provided for the position ot
Labor Foreman in the departments ot the water Superintendent and
Street Superintend~nt,and that the compensation of such ottice or
posltion shall be the sum of One Hundred and For.ty Dollars($140.00)
per month, payable monthly,such toreman to perform such duties as
from time to time have been provided by the Ordinances,Resolutions
or Orders ot the City Council ot said City,and under the direction
of the BBter and Street Superintendent.
Section 3. That Ordinance 1~.177,and all ordinances ot parts of
Oddinances and Resolutions in contlict with this Ordinance are hereby
repealed.
Section 4~ The City Clerk sholl cause this ODdinance to be pub-
lished once in the Seal Beach Post & Wave, a newspaper printed,
published and generally circulated in the City of Seal Beach,Cali-
fornia, and it shall thereupon take effect.
