The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California,' do orda in as f olloVls: Sectlon 1: IN~ERPHETATIOH: In interpreting and applying the provisions of this ordinance, such provlsions shall, ln vverey instance, be held to the minimum requlrements adopted for the promotion of the health, safety, com- tort, morals, convenience or general welfare. Section 2: DEFINITIONS: , For the purpose of this ordinance certain terms used herein are detlned as follows, unless there ls express provlsion excludlng such constructlon or unless the subject matter or context ls repugnant thereto: APBRTME}~ HOUSE: A building which ls used, designed,rir intended to be used as a home or dwelling place for three(3) or more families, living in separate apartments thereln. ACCESSORY USE: A use customarily incidental and accessory to the principal use of a lot or of a Duilaing or other structure located on the same lot with such accessory use. BUILDING: A Bti'l1ctu~6mfor, tli.e;sypport~ shelter~,o:t")ehclQsui!e~'of, persons 6r,.'iJrep~rty. and entirely separate from any other structure by space or by walls ln which there are no cOmL,unicating doors or windows or similar openings. t/' - b FAt,IILY: One or more individuals, livlng, sleeplng, cooking and eating on the same premises as single housekeeping unit. LOT: A parcel of land ln single or jolnt ownership, occupled or to be occupled by one or more bulldings or other structures and the accessory buildings, structures or uses customarily incldent thereto, together with such open spaces as are required by this ordinance. A corner lot is a lot situated at the junction of and border- ing on two or more intersecting streets, and with a frontage of not ' more than seventy-five(75') on one of such streets. The owner may desi€ nate on which street such trontage shall be for the purpose ot deter- mlning the location and wldth of yards. All other lots are interior J!.ots. GRADE: Theword grade shall mean the natural surface pf the ground; provided that where such natural surtace is lower than the sidewalk grade, as officlally established, or Vlhere the first floor of a building is to b~ level with the adjacent udaewalk, the word grade shall mean such official grade. PRIVATE GARAGE: A buildlng where one or more ;utomoblles ;re kept or stored for priv;te use only, and not rented or hired to the public, ;nd where no ch;rge is made for keoping or storage. -1- ~ I I ,I Ordinance Number .,.
