I" RESOLUTION NO. 1218 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH URGING DEFEAT OF ASSEMBLY BILLS 312, 888, 1000. , The City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby resolve: WHEREAS, the mandatory provisions of Assembly Bills 312, 888, and 1000 requiring the collection of levy of county-wide school tax is a direct violation of the "home-rule" principle, and WHEREAS, it appears that the levy of this tax will open the door to other property tax levies on the part of the State, and WHEREAS, the levying o:f property taxes has always been the exclusive use of local governments, and WHEREAS, property owners are currently over-burdened by taxation, Naol, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach urges all county-wide tax propositions for school purposes be defeated. BE IT FUR'J:HER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to Senator John A. Murdy, Jr., Assemblyman James E. Whetmore, Assemblyman William E. Dannemeyer, and Assemblyman Robert E. Badham.
