Boulevard Stops: All vehicles travelling in a law- 10 ful manner upon the following designated public streets and highways 11 in the City of Seal Beach, California, shall have the right-ot-way 12 over vehicles approaching trom intersecting streets and/or alleys: 13 (a) Ocean Avenue, (0) Central Avenue, (c) Coast Boulevard, (d) Electric Lane, (e) ~ain Street; and, 14 15 16 17 Upon approachin~suchA>Ocean Avenue, Central Avenue and t'iwA. cI & e.f! . E>4.' .- Coast Boulevar~ with the exception of and at the intersection of J.~ain Street with such Ocean Avenue, Central Avenue, and including 18 19 20 Electric Avenue North and South, it shall be unlawful tor the drive 21 ot any vehicle to tail to bring such vehicle to a complete stop at ~ the limit line indicated by a boulevard stop sign or mark placed, 0 23 caused to be placed, by the City Council at the property line or 24 lines of each of the above desiGnated streets or highways or at any 25 o~ such intersecting streets and/or alleys; provided further, how- 26 ever, that when any of such intersectlons are controlled by a polic 27 officer directing tra~fic, no vehicle shall be stopped as above pro 28 vided when a signal to proceed has been given; and, provided fur the , 29 that in event no such boulevard stop sien or mark has been so in- 30 stalled, there shall not be deemed to have been established at such 31 intersectional point or points a boulevard stop under the terms of 32 this ordinance at least until t~o s~ne is or has been installed 1. U z ...... 0( 0 IV i~ bl f ... ~ '. m 0:: c Sz l!I :J m;: Z p 0 m 0 .J II I Ordinance Number 1 under the provisions hereof. 2 Sec. 2 School Satety Zone: There is hereby established a . 3 school satety zone at the intersectlon of the Easterly curb line of 4 Eleventh Street with t~e Southwesterly curb line of Electric Avenue, 5 and which zone shall be ten (10) teet ln width Easterly from said 6 Easterly curb 11ne ot Eleventh Street and shall extend Northerly 7 along the prolongation ot such Easterly curb llne of Eleventh Street 8 and parallel to and ten (10) teet in uidth across Electric Avenue 9 South, the Pacific Electric Railuay Company's right-of-way and 10 Electric Avenue Horth, to the l;ol'theasterly curb line of Electric 11 Avenue North; and all pedestrians passing over and along such schoo 12 zone shall have the riBht-of-way over all vehicles in said Electric 18 Avenue, llorth and South, and all trains and/or cars propelled upon said Pacific Electric Company's right-of-way, approaching such scho safety zone. All vehicles and all such trains and/or cars propelled upo said Pacific Electric Railway Company's riGht-of-way shall crOSD such shcool safety zone at not to exceed fitteen (15) miles per hou , 14 15 16 17 18 19 and provided further that in event pedestrians are passing over and 20 along such school safety zone, the drlver or operator of any such 21 vehicles and trains and/or cars shall bring such vehlcle to a com- 22 plete stop at a point not less than ten (10) teet to the nearest 23 line of such school satety zone, and shall keep such vehicle and 24 train and/or car standing so stopped until such pedestrians have 25 passed beyond the course of intersection ot such vehicle and train 26 and/or car uith such school safety zone, and in whiah case said ve- 27 hicle and train and/or car may proceed with due regard to the satet 28 of pedestrians in such zone. 29 Sec. 3. Obedlence to Tratfic Signs: It shall be unlawful 7 tor the driver ot any vehicle to disobey the instructions of any 8 mechanical traffic signal, lettered traffic sign or paint marks up- 9 on the surtace of any street, posts, ropes or other devices authori ed 10 by law or ordinance and Installed or placed upon the street for the 11 purpose of directing or regulating traffic, or to drive upon or 12 across any portions of any street which has been closed by a bar- 18 rier, sign or post, authorized by law or ordinance, or when there 14 is an otticer warning drivers not to drive vehicles thereupon; pro- 15 vided the authority of such otficer so to do Is established by law 16 or ordinance. 17 Sec. 5.Penalties: Any person violating or faillng to com- 18 ply with any of the provisions of this Ordiance shall be deemed 19 guilty ot a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be pun- 20 ished by a flne ot not more than $300.00 or by imprisonment in the 21 eounty jail for a period ot not more than 3 months, or by both such ~ flne and imprisonment. 28 Sec.6. Repeals: All Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, 24 in conflict with this Ordinance, and to the extent that they affect 25 this Ordinance, are to that extent hereby repealed. 26 Sec. 7.
