The City Council of the City of Seal Beach, California.
do ordain as follows:
Section 1., That ~ection 1, subdivision (f) and (h)

of Ordinance Ho. 166, an' Ordinance creating and pl'oviding for certain
offices and positions in the Municipal Government of the City of Seal
Beach, be amended to ~ead as follows:
Section 1. (f) Department of the City Assessor,
Tax Collector and Water Superintendnet.
There is hereby ?re~ted and provided for the office of
City Assessor, Tax Collector, and Water Superintendent. The City
Assessor and Tax Collector shall also be Deputy City Clerk and
City Assessor and Deputy Marshal and Ex-officio Tax Collector ot

said city, a~d shall collect and pay all real and personal pro-
perty taxes of sald city into the office of th~ City Treasurer
monthly. That in addition to the above for~boin~ duties the
CitirAssessor and 'l'ax Collector shall perform such oth0I' duties
in respect to such offices as have been from time to time pro-

vided for by the Ordinances of said city and which may hereafter

be provided for by Ordinances, Resolutions, or Orders of the City
Counctl of the said city.
That the Water Superintendent in addition to Ghe above
foregoing duties, as City Assessor and Tax Collector, shsll compute
and mail out all ~onthly bills to ~ater consumers and collect for

the same as by ordinance provided in said City, paying the
same into the office of the City Treasurer monthly.
That the Water Superintendent shall be and also
perfoI~ the duties of Street Superintendent, Sewer In-
spector, Building Inspector, Electrical and Plumbing In-
spector, of said city and such other ditties in respect to
such office and/or offices as from time to time have been
provided tor by the ordinances of said city and which may
hereafter be provided for by Ordinances, Resolutions or
OrdeI's of the City Council ct: the said city.
That'the ~bmpensation of the City Assessor, Tax
Collector ahd Water Superintendent shell be the sum of One
Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars, per month, payable monthly;
that in addition to~he above comgensation the City Council
may allow such Cit~ lssessor and Tax Collector an additional
sum or sums for equipmdnt and office supplies and further
authorize the employment upon authority of said City Council
first had and obtained, additional stenographic, clercial
and office assistants, for such periods of tice and at such
coml)ensation as ma;j be determined by said City Council.
That in addition to the above comgensation the
Wat~r Superintendent is further authorized to employ two
(2) additional men or assistants in each department or
departm0nts thereof at the rate of fifty (50~) cents per
hour payable monthly and to employ necdssary day laborers
in respect to such various departments at the rate of
forty (40~) cents, per hour payable monthly, upon only
authority of said City Council first had and obtained.
Section 1. (h) Department of City Engineer.
The Department of City Engineer is hereby abolished, except
and provided ho~ever, that the City Council shall, from
time td time as the services of on engineer, whether civil,

to emoloy and engage such engineering services for

may be provided fOF by said City Council in tae
Resolution, Ordinance, and/or Contract of such
emplo-ym-ent.
Section 2. That Ordinance No. 171, and all Ordinances,
parts of Ordinancds, and Resolu~ions in conflict with this Ordinance' is
hereby repealed.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordlnance by the City Council of the City of Seal
Beach, and cause the sa~e to be published once in the Seal Beach Post
and Wave, a newspaper of general circulation printed, publtshed and
circulated in said City, and to be posted in three public places in

Offlce, and the California State Bank, and thereupon it shall take
effect.

and Ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said city, do hereby certify
that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City of Seal
Beachi California, is five; that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
approved by the City Council of said city at a regular meeting held
on the I~ day of' June, 1933, and that said Ordinance was duly
passed by the following vote, to-wit:
