The Board of Trustees and City Counoil of the
City of Seal Beach, California, do ord8in as follC1NS:
Section 1.
The public convenience and necessity
requiring, the following offices and positions are hereby
created and provided for the ~uniclpsl Government of the City
of Seal Beach, and the monthly salartes, compensations and
bonds, and duties incident thereto, are fixed and defined, res-
pectively, as follows:

Ten Dollars (r.10.OO) per month, such cocpensation to begin
on the first day of the month next succeecing the canvass of
the returns of the last preceding General Municipal Election,
in accordance with Initiative Ordinance No. 156, duly adopted
by the electors of said City of Seal Beach, at a General
fviunicipal Election held in said City on Apri 1,14, 1930. The
regular mec~ings of such Board of Trustees and City Council
shall be hele: upon the first Rnc thil'o Thul'sdays of each and
every month, and all oth3r duties of such Board of Trustees and
City Council shall be sllch ss are definet' by the General
Statutes of the St.ste of CalifOl"nia, And Ordinances, or
Resolutions, of said City, not in confl~ct therewith.

(b) Department of the City Clerk.
The City CleI'k shall receive the sum of O:1e
Huncred Dollars (~lOO.OO) per ~onth, such compensation to
begin on tbe first day of the month next succeeding the cen-
vass of the toe turns of the General 1.1unicipel Election held
insaid,City on Aprll11, 1932.

City Council may appoint a Deputy City Clerk, or Deputy City
Clerks, one of which deputies shall be Ex-officio City Assessor
of said City, whose duties shall be sucn as are defined by law
and the Ordinances of said City, and whosp. salol~ shell be a
sum. or sums, to be fixed by the Board of Trustees end City
Council during the assessr,.ent period.
The duties of the
City Clerk shall be such as are defined by law and General
statutes, and Ordinences end Resolutions of said City not in
conflict therewith.
In addition thereto the City Clerk
shall issue all business: licenses as and when the fee required
by Ordin~nces of the City are paid in advance, and in the
absence of the Water Superintendent, receive, at her office,
any payments for weter bills, and deposit such receipts in
the proper fund, or funds, provided therefor.
(c)
Department of the City Treasurer.
The City Treasurer shall perform such duties as
monthly, a sum eqllivalent to one-hal f of one p'lr CP.Tlt (~ of 1%)
of all city funds deposited through said office.

Department of the City Attorney.

and defend all legel actiens for and on behalf of said City,
upon authority of the Board of Trustees given therefor, and shell
be allowed such additional cO::lllens:3tion therefor, payable month-
ly, upon statements duly rendered, as may be allowed by the
Board of Trustees and City Council.

The City Engineer shall

The compensation
of said City Engineer shall be the sum of One Hundred and
Fifty Dollars (8150.00) per month, payable monthly, together
with such additional amounts as such Board of TrusteEls and

that such engineer is authorized to employ, upon authority

Sec. 2.
It shall be the d1 ty of the City Clerk

and Ex-officio Tax Collector, before ~ntering upon the duties
of their respective offices, each to execute a bond to s9:d
City, in the penal sum stipulated as follows:

Sec. 3.
All City officials, roJ ective or ap-
pointive, having offices in the City Hall BUilding, with the
exception of the City Treasurer, Recorde~ or City Juqge,

Marshal and Police Department, shall ~e on outy and continuously
keep such offices open for the convenience of the public from
eight o'clock ~. M. until five o'clock P.M., with the exception
of from twelve o'clock noon until one o'clock P.ll., for five
days each week, a nd from eight 0' clock A. M. until twelve 0' cIa: k
noon on Saturdays of each week, end the Department of the ~ershal,
or Police Department, sroll be open to the public for seven da,vs
a week, twenty-four hours each day, having some Deputy or Officer
in charge at all times.
Sec. 4.
All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances and
Resolutions in conflict with this Ordinance, are hereby re-
peeled.
Sec. 5.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Ordinance by tho Board of Trustees and City CruncH
of the City
of Seal Beach, and cause the sllll1e to be published
