The Board of Trustees apd City Council of ~he City of
Seal Beach, California, do ordain as follous:
Section 1.
That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 152, an
Ordinance providing for licensing and regulating certain
businesses and pursuits carried on within said city, be
amended to read as follows:
Section 7.
APPLICATION FOR LICEFSE.
Every person liable to ply any license tax under this
Ordinance shall m~ke applic~tion to the Oity Clerk
for a license, stating the business err pursuit desired
to be carried on; and it sholl be the duty of the City
Clerk and City j,iarshal, upon investigation and conf1r ma-

tion of the statement of said apvlicant that he has
complied ''lith all the provisions of i;he city laViS, in-
cluding this ordinance, required for the securins of .
said license, to prepare and issue the same t08Very
person :naking such application fa' said license and
tendering the fees th~reunderi except ond provided,
howevr-;r, thct no license, or rene\lal thereof, shall be
issued unless the fee therefor shall be paid in cash
at the time of the issuance, or renewal, thereof, ~nd
all fees for such licenses sholl be turned over to the
City Treasurer at the end of each calendar month by
said City Clerk;
said license shall be duly signed
by the said City Clerk and countersigned by the said
City l,;arshal, "no attested by the City seal and shall

time covered thereby, the name of the person to whom
issued, tl1e bus iness of the person licensed, the loca-
tion where such business or pursuit is to be carried
on; and the said City Clerk shall thereupon dAliver
such license to the applicant therefor.
Sec. 2.
That Section 32 of said OrOinonce No. 152,
be amended to read as follows:
Section 32. DUTIES OF I,ARSF.AL, The
f;arshal and Ex-Officio Chief of Police shall countersign
all licenses, and may make arrests for any violation of
this Ordinance; and shall have And exercise the power
and right to enter, free of charge, any place of busil~ss
or pursuit for the purpose of inspecting any city license
and to demand from any person the exhibition of any
city license far the purpose of inspecting or checking
the same.

~ec. 3. That Section 39 of said Ordinance No. 152,
,~be amended to read as folloY/s:
See t ion 39. FlR E',10RKS. Every pe rs on
conducting, managing or carrying on the business of main-
taining a stand or place for the sale of fire crackers,
fire works, flags, banners, horns and novelties, shall
pay a license tax of Two Hundred Dollars (.~200.00) per
day for the first stand, and in addition thereto shall
pay a license tax of One Hundred Dollars (~lOO.OO) per
day for each branch standi provided, however, that the
license tax required to be paid herein shall not apply
to a regula!ly established business or person eng~ed in
selling or vending such designated articles from a
regularly established business, uhich, for the purpose
of this section, shall be defined as a place of business
which has been operated in the same location for not
less than six months, unless, however, an additional

stand is operated by the OVffier of such established place
of business, in which event such merohant shall pay a
license tax of Five Dollsrs (;~5.00) per day for each such
additional stand, and provided further that no portion
or parcel of the premises of suoh established place of
businesE shall be rented; let, hired, sublet or leased
to a third party, or parties, and no such additional
stand shall be operated by a person other than the owner
of such established place of business;

further, that no person shall maintain or oonduct a st~nd
or place for the sale of such articles within said City
without first securing a permit from the Alarshal and
Chief afPolice so to do, which permit shall specify the
location of said stand, or stands, and permit the opera-
tion thereof for not exceeding one week~prior to and
three days after the 4th of July of any year.

Section 62a.
TRANSFER a.lID TRUCKING.
Every
person, firm or corporntion, engaged in ccnduct1ng or
managing or carrying on, in the said City of Seal Beach,
the business of driving or operating any cart, wagon,
truck, van, dray, or other vehicle or vehioles drawn by
ha'ses, mules, 01' other animals, or propelled by motor,
or attaohed to any vehiole drawn by horses, mules or other
animals, or propelled by motor, and using the same, or any
part thereof, for the transportation of baggage, express,
freight, household goods, mprchandise, materials, or other
personsl property for hire or compensation shall pay an
annual license tax to the City of Seal Beach in the sum of
EighUen Dollars (:;18.00), and in adt'lition thereto,
for each and every cart, wagon, truck, van, dray,
or other vehiole used by suoh person, firm or

oorporation in the conduct of such business within said
city, an annual lioense tax of Two Dollars (~2.00j for
each ton of the oarrying capacity thereof, as shown by
the manufacturer's rating; .and also in addition there-
to, the sum of Five Dollars \~5.00J per year for each
trailer.

be unlawful for any person whether as principal, agent,
clerk, employee or otherwise, either for himself, or for

on any trade, oalling, pro~essioh or occupation in this
ordinanoe specified in the City of Seal Beaoh, vithout
first having prooured a license from said City so to do,
or '/ithout oomplying with any and all l'egulations of such
trade, calling, profession or occupation contained in this
ordinance;
and the carrying on of any trade, calling pro-
fession or occupation mentioned in this ordinance without
first having prooured a lioense from said oity BO to do,
or ~ithout complying with any or all regulations of such

trade, calling, profession or occupation oontained in this
ordinance, shall constitute a sepal'ate violation of this
ordinance for each and every day that such trade, oalling
profession or occupation is so carried on, and in violation
of any of the provisions of this ordinanoe be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars
(ij300.00J, or, by imprisonment for a term not exceeding
three l3) months, or, by both suoh fine and imprisonment.
Seo. 6.
That all ordinances, or parts of Ordina-
noes, in oonfliot with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Sec. 7.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption
of this Ordinance and cause the same
