ulating the construction, alteration, repair,
and dsmolition of buildings and structures,

The Board of Trustees of the Oity of Seal Beach do ordain
as follows:

Section 1. There shall be a building inspector appointed
by and holding office at the "ple.asure of .j~~Oard of Tru~;eeAJ

for the Oity of Seal Beach^ It shall be the duty of'the uild-
ing inspector to make such inspections as may be necessary to
see that the proviSions of this Ordinance are complied with. The
building inspector is hereby given authority to enter any build-
ing in the OitY,of Seal Beach in the performance of his duties
and is further given authority to order and compel the suspen-

sian of any or all work. or the occupancy of any building upon
which any work is being done, or which is being occupied in
violation of the provisions of this Ordinance.
Seotion 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or ~

corporation, owner. architect, lessee. builder, occupant, or

Election L
It shall be a violation of this Ordinance for any person
to continue the construction or use of any building or part there-
i of after the building inspector has directed in writing, that
II such construction or use, be suspended. The posting of a writ;ten
3 or printed notice on a building shall be considered a sufficient
4 notification, as required in this Ordinance, and it shall be a
6 violation of this Ordinance to remove such a notice except by

permission - of the building inspector.

description so as to be readily identified; the general dimen-
sions, number and heighth of stories, name of the firm. person,
corporation. owner, lessee. architect. builder, occupant, or
other person contemplating such work, and shall give a full and
complete extimate of the cost of the work, state for what purpose
the building is designed to be used, and contain such other in-
formation as required by the form of application used.
When permit isgtven, a card shall accompany it, showing
npmber of permit and this card must be posted in a conspicuous
spot on the building at all times during construction. If such
permi t hasbeen granted, plans shall not be changed, if such
change increase!s the cost of the proposed work. without notice
having first been given to the building inspector andhls approv-
al obtained, and the said building inspector paid an additional
fee for such change. in accordance with the schedule of fees
hereinafter provided; Such work to.be charged for as an addition
al permit, and in any caee where separate or additional permits
are taken out on any work, such permits are to be charged far
as an additional permit in each case.
Section If: 'rhe fees to be paid to the Oi ty of Seal Beach
and to be collected by the building inspector for the issuance of
any building permit required by this Ordinance shall be in ac~or-
dance with the estimated cost as follows:

The building inspector shall keep in proper books, an

accurate record of all fees/under this ordinance, giving the
name of the party paying the same, the date and the amount. and
such books shall be kept open for public inspeotion.
If any work shall have been done on any building or
part of building for which a permit is required by this Ordin-
ance, before such permit shall have been taken out, and such
permit shall be subsequently issued, double the fees as herein
provided shall be collected.
Section € If the work authorized by said permit is not
begun within sixty days from the date thereof. said permit shall
be thereafter void, and before such work can be commenced, a new

t permit must be taken out and the same fees as herein fixed for

the original permit shall be paid.

Section'. It shall be unlawfUl for any person to
conceal any wiring or plumbing until the aame has b~en approved
and passed by the City electrician and plumbing inspector.
When
Section 1./ Any existing building o~ part thereof is to
be demolished, a statement shall be filed with the building in-
spector stating the work to be done, and if this is approved,

12 or persons doing the wrecking, to do such work in a safe manner,
18 and the same regulation shall apply to the use of streets as

required in the case of new buildings. Any dry materials such
as plaster mtlt be wet down to lay dust.
Section f. All residence, store, and office buildings
in the 01 ty of Seal ]'leach shall be built upon a concrete foun-
dation not less than twelve inches in width at the base and
six inches in heighth, unless by special permit from the Board
of Trustees of the Oity of Seal Beach first obtained.

civil engineer, painter. or plumber, carpenter, mason, sub-
contractor, forman. or any other person who may be employodm
assist in the commission of any violation of any provision of
this Ordinance, and any and all persons who shall violate any
of the provisions of this Ordinance or fail to comply herewith
or any requirement hereof, or who shall violate or fail to
comply with any order or regulation made hereunder, or shall
build in violation of any permit issued, hereunder, shall
severally for each and every violation and non-compliance,
respectively be fined $25.00.
Any and all the eeverally mentioned persons who have
been served with a Notice as herein described to remove any
structure or part thereof, erec.t.ed:ln violation of any provision
of this Ordinance. or who shall fail to comply with any require
ments of this Ordinance, or with any order or regulation mad~
thereunder. within ten days after such service in the respect
exceeding
named in said notice, shall pay an additional penaltynot/$250.00
to be fixed by the said Foard of Trustees,
/ or having paid the above penalty. shall fail to comply with the
said notice within a reaRonable time, shall continue to violate
any requirement of this Ordinance in the respective named in
EUch notice. shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be
punished by a fine of not less than $5.00 and not more than

not exceeding three months. or by both such fine and imprison-
ment. and in the event that the,fine imposed hereunder is not

Seotion I'. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances
7 insofar as the same shall effect this Ordinance and be in con-
8 flict herewith, are to that extent hereby repealed.

Section L~ The City Olerk shall certify to the passa~
of thie Ordinance and cause the same to be published once inthe
seal Post and Wave and it shall take effect thirty days after
its final passage.
